Smith & Wesson Model 10
Many years ago, my uncle gave my grandfather a Smith & Wesson Model 10 chambered in .38 spl. When my grandfather passed away, my dad inhereted the gun. I have no idea when this firearm was manufactured, and that is what I am trying to determine. There are several numbers, such as the serial #, model, and a few other #'s that I do not have a clue as to what they mean. I was hoping that one of the many gun experts here may be able to tell me how to determine the date. According to the markings on this weapon, it is a model 10-8. Any information would be greatly appreciated.[:)]

There are folks who have the serial number lists which give approximate dates of manufacture. If you don't get a response here fairly soon, try posting in Ask the Experts. 0 -
A 10-8 isn't all that old, maybe from the 1980s. The serial will be on the base of the grip frame and will have a letter prefix. A 10-8 made after 1982 will have a 3-letter prefix like ABC12345.
