Dinner on Golden Corral?
Has anyone else heard Golden Corral is serving a free meal to past or present US military members on November 11, 5-11 PM? I would imagine you need your Fleet Reserve card or your DD214, but nothing was mentioned about it on TV.

actually according to their website it is on Nov. 12th i just looked it up so i could send it to friends.

I've been twice. I don't know what it's like in the big city, but they didn't ask me for any identification. The cashier did ask if both of us were veterans. I paid for the wife but mine was free. It's buffet only, no ordering from the menu whether you pay or not. The crowd was HUGE both times. I left my standard tip.
Golden Corral is an OK place to eat if you're not interested in fancy surroundings and don't want to mortgage the house to pay the check. [:D]0 -

I am only a few blocks away from one but I have never been to one of their appreciation events. Instead, I help out on our annual troop Veteran's Day breakfast. 0 -
I use to take advantage of our local Golden Corral's kindness on Veterans Day, and they should be commended for what they do, however it was sold out to some Mexicans and is now a Mexican Resturant. [V] 0 -
Great place, roaches in the kitchen rat feces in the food. Several here have been shut down until they fix the violations, and all have had low ratings. I drive on by. 0 -
He Dog, it's a franchise outfit. What's true in one place might not be true in another place. There probably isn't a restaurant, diner or eatery in the world you would frequent if you watched the food from production to preparation. I should add prepared foods in the grocery store, including candy bars. I try not to think about it. [:D] 0 -
James in my misspent yout, I worked in restuarants I did not mind eating in. Had I, I would have quit. It is certainly possible to eat in places, including franchise places that are alway A and never dinged on health inspections.[8D]
I don't eat candy bars, so no problem with those.[^]0 -
Even in your own home....
What do you do in a restaurant if you find a hair in your food?...scream, holler, send it back etc...and at home?..take the hair out, and continue eating....
Seen it happen a lot...
Response when asked why the fuss when eating out and not at home?...Cause at home I know the ppl....
My response was but do you know where they have been, and what the hair has had in it?......makes them think twice...

The food DOES suck, He Dog. Bland boring old people food. 
The lines last year were probably 300+ people for the free day. Crazy. That food is crap, and certainly isn't worth standing in line for.

The food may be crap (isnt here, actually its not bad at all) but at least they are saying thank you....
Some vets are not very well off, and a free meal tastes like filet mignon....
Instead of getting spit on, kicked, they are thanked for what they did...and for what they lost...and some might at least remember that when they see all the vets in line for a free meal once a friggin year....
They probably waited a hell of a lot longer for a meal when they were fighting..0 -

I'm one of the vets who isn't very well off. I think I'll fall in line this year.
I was a fry cook in a seafood restaurant 1957-1961 (started as a dish washer). I also ate there by the way. Waitresses earn their pay.

Regardless of how you think the food tastes, kudos to Golden Corral for what they are doing.

The local Corral is always full with Veterans from the VA hospital -- I go the next week so they can eat even though I have to pay. They don't get many good meals ......... 0 -
I ate lunch at the Golden Corral in Roxboro today. The vittles (victuals) weren't bad at all. But then I like horse c??k and beans in fifteen foot seas, so you can't really go by my culinary evaluation. 0
