Puppy Help, Not sure what to make of it?

None of my dogs in the past have ever done this. But with "Spencer" the minute anything is out of place he barks at at. Simple stuff like plants, Hats things etc.

Today, I put my jacket on a different hook on the coat rack not thinking anything of it. You would think the world was coming to an end by the way he was barking at it.

Should I ignore that behavior?

or commend him for noticing the change?

    I think most puppies do this...even some grown dogs. I'd just ignore it. If you encourage it, it may become a headache later.

    it's common, i wouldn't worry about unless it get worse, then i would check his vision

    It is quite normal...puppies will look in a mirror and think they see another dog, where as a cat knows its not seeing another cat....


    One thing you can do is walk over to the "offending" object, touch it, let the puppy smell it and say, 'its okay' but do NOT praise the dog....he will soon learn that out of place things are okay..


    Our one cat, or rather Larry's cat is the same way...she hates things moved out of place and lets you know...once we pick up the object, or move the chair etc, and say its okay, she is fine.....

    I have a Min.Rat Terrior Bitch,Thatsquats, and cocks her leg to pee. AT THE SAME TIME. Kind of a "Half-squat-half-cock" Strange, but she's done it all her life (3 years).

    Our 9 year old lab still barks at anything out of place. Even the wife or I if we don't sit in our usual place. Just cann't seem to break her of it.

    Personality. Our little toy poodle barks at stuff that is moved and our Doberman just said "oh well." It's got a lot to do with the personality of the dog. Our Dobie was a party dude, and our little poodle is kind of the straight laced do everything the same and don't mess up my house type of dog.

    Just go over, touch the object, pick it up, whatever..he/she will be fine after usually...

    I've never heard of a dog that has an annal retentive disorder, but I know a 4 year old boy that has these issues. His twin brother has learned to provoke it and he has not noticed this brother will intentionally hide or place things out of order. Grade school is going to be rough on that kid.

    He would probably appreciate a puppy that see the world in the same light.

    My dog will chase a laser pointer or a flashlight pointed at the ground, wherever it goes..Very funny. Or let the sunlight reflect off something onto the ceiling and he won't shutup till I move it..

    Thanks all-[:)] He's a good boy, I Gotta learn the the little quirks
    of this little guy. I will admit like any bird dog, he is smart when Mom and dad aren't looking or let our guard down. [:D]

    He should grow out of it but it may be an indication that he will be difficult to socialize. Just spend some extra time introducing him to the world and he should be fine.

    I have a two year old Australian Shepherd who does that, and she humps my leg. I think she is trying to show me she is the dominant one, but she only does it when we are playing and she gets excited. I'm always laughing too hard to correct her.

    I can't watch anything on TV that has any four legged creatures in it other than horses. She likes horses, but anything else on four legs causes her to have a conniption fit. She has learned the music of some dog commercials and comes running.
