Does anyone use Dish Network Satellite Internet?

I am looking into getting internet at my house. I basically can't get dialup. I dont have a phone connected and dial-up where I am is half speed. My only other option seems to be satellite internet and Dish Network covers my area.

Does anyone have it and like it?

    I think my neighbors looked into getting that three or four years ago. If I remember correctly it was spendy $60.00-$80.00 a month.

    Yeah, it is $200 upfront for equipment and $50 a month.

    But if I get the phone line and pay the dialup fee it will be at least $50 a month and much much slower.

    Satellite internet is unreliable when rainy, snowy, foggy, or heavy cloud cover.

    Are you able to get DSL, or cable??

    I don't have Dish's service, but I have Satellite Internet. It's better than Dial Up, but not half as good as the DSL I had back east.

    We had Satellite a while back... and it SUCKED.. because we live in a wooded area... plus im preety sure you have to have a phone line... but i could be wrong...

    P.S. DONT GO THRU VERIZON FOR INTERNET.. CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!

    From what I understand, they use Wild Blue for their service. I tried
    wild blue a while back, through a different co., and their service
    dept. sux big time. Can only imagine how bad it would've been once I got
    past the 30day trial.

    You do not have to have a phone line to have Satellite Internet service through a regular Satellite provider...I'm not sure about Dish...

    As said, I believe Dish uses Wild Blue, and when I tried Wild Blue
    I didn't need a phn line.

    I have hughes.net, formerly direcway.com. I expect it's pretty close to the same thing. You don't have to have a phone line for hughes.net. Customer Service sucks. They think they exist to make your life a living hell, but then that's what Customer Service is these days. It's considerably better than dial-up, but nowhere near as good as they tell you it is.

    Watch the "technician" who installs it very closely. The guy they sent out here was a one man demolition team. I wound up letting him watch me install it.

    The reason I bought Direcway in the first place was because I got rid of my landline. Went to war with SPRINT over their Customer Service, but that's a different rant.
