of we were soldiers got a chill up my spine when Mel Gibson as Col Moore got home and his wife said "children your daddy's home" so all those that do not appreciate what our service men and women have sacrificed for this country might I just say KISS MY BIG OL' BUTT!!!!

Didn't see it, but I was in a gymnasium at Fort Riley when 1/16 Infantry, Charlie Company got off the bus and marched inside, fresh from Iraq. There were lots of parents there, but what got to me was the number of young wives and children that were there, waiting to see Daddy for the first time in months, some for the first time ever.
It seems a shame to me that family men must be warriors. I was glad that I was the only one there to greet Travis.0 -
I caught the last half of it, too. It chokes me up to watch it.
I married my current wife (and had children) after I retired. They have no idea about the sacrifices we have made for this country. I try to explain why I feel the way I do but they just don't seem to get it.
I also noticed that I was the only one who removed my hat and placed it over my heart at our parade today when the colors passed by.0
