Deer Hunting Question

Today was the opening day for archery season for deer.
Sitting in my stand, I had a doe with her youngin', a couple of forkies, and a very nice 8 pt walk by.
The 8 had a good body on him and a very nice rack. Late November I would for sure have shot him but it being opening day, I was just enjoying tree time.
I heard something coming towards me on the trail and lo and behold, it was two very fine looking co-eds.
They found a nice spot about 50 yards from me and spread a blanket out.
They then proceeded to start making out.
They then started removing all of their clothes and started doing things to each other that I can't fully describe here. [:0]
So my question, did I do the right thing and just sit there or,













should of I of shot the 8 point?

    how many will take whatever comes your way when you are down to your last tag with only a day or two left to hunt whether it be Bow or Gun season. I'm Bow hunting now and only have one deer tag. I'm picky though so i wont take Bambi out even on my last day. Just thought i would see what other people do. i was at a checking station about two days ago and a guy shot a little yearling with a bow. so what do you do when your stuck in my situation?

    Deer Hunting Question?...

    Looking forward to hunting season, but I do have a question.

    If I shoot a buck, but I only have a doe tag, can I claim that the buck wasn't really a buck?

    I mean, maybe he'd always wanted to be a doe, but with no choice of his own he was born with the physical attributes of a male. And yet, on the inside he'd always known he was truly a female.

    So, I'm just wondering if you think I can get a game warden to buy that line of bull, because a segment of society and the Supreme Court does.

    While rabbit hunting this morning came across a Deer that a Hunter had shot and had only took the hind quarters, so talked to a buddy of mine who deer hunts{not the shooter of this deer}.His reply-In this area there is such an overpopulation of deer that some hunters are now doing this but most also take the tenderloin.Seems like to me a waste but there are a lot of deer/car accidents here.What do yall think?

    In my area there are also an over population of deer. That is why our DNR has a Harvest For The Hungry Program. If you shot a deer and do not want any or all of the meat. You just drop it off at a participating butcher, they cut it up and then it goes out to less fortunate people.
    A hunter in my state can harvest 32 deer legally. And I do not know about your family, But there is no way in heck my family can consume that much deer meat.

    There are people around here that do that, too. If my freezer is full and I still have a tag, I'll give the meat away . I would never waste any game animal like that.

    That's a shameful practice in my opinion. Folks who do that stuff are usually the same ones that show no respect for anything in the outdoors, the ones who leave their trash in the woods, shoot at hawks, dogs, or anything else that comes by, and who trespass and poach like they own the world.

    Should use whole deer,but I've seen some deer shot in shoulders that there wasn't much of use left.So I guess to each his own.

    i personally will keep every part of the deer except of the guts none goes to waste at my house

    I saw an antlerless deer lying dead in a creek this morning in an area frequented by "road hunters". I expect some deadbeat shot it and drove away. I would like to see a meat recovery law like some of the western states that requires a hunter to remove edible portions of the carcass. We also have a Share the Harvest program but it is not always totally funded. This year our closest participating locker is charging the donor $5 to give them the deer. Add that to the gas price and I would be $$ ahead to feed the deer to the coyotes and give the food pantry $20 worth of macaroni. I won't do that but that's the general feeling. Last year one group decided they wouldn't accept any more buck donations. We donate as we get them or get one processed at a time for our use. That way we don't have so much going into our freezers at once. I also prefer to kill our eating deer later in the fall so they don't lay around the locker for hours waiting to be cooled.

    What a waste. Even if the deer is shot in the middle of the front shoulders, the meat above and below are still good for burger. Also, the backstraps (the meat along the spine) and the tenderloins (the thin strips of meat inside the cavity along the back of the spine) are the best part of the deer! They also have the least amount of fat and sliverskin, therefore require a lot less work to get edible meat.
    I am in full agreement with DBV on this one.

    I don't shoot it unless I intend to eat it....or give it the local food pantry. The hunters that do this are not sportsmen.

    Sounds like a perfectly good waste of food. On another forum we've been talking about how rediculous people are when it comes to rifle season. Had several guys talk about almost getting shot by others, seeing dead deer with the racks cut off, etc. [:(!]

    Whatever I kill (except animals like prairie dogs, jackrabbits, coons, etc) they're either going to be eaten by my family & me or I'm giving it to someone who wants/needs it.

    Let me tell you, nerd, raccoon is delicious. I have had it several times, in a stew with onions and potatoes, it is just great. Dark meat.

    I've found two bull elk like this. Breaks my heart every time. I feel bad when I'm unable to pack out the entire neck.

    Allen...coon is delicious stuffed with whole hog sausage and smothered in a good bbq sauce. Put it on the smoker all day long. Meat falls off the bones. But jackrabbit is good, and prairie dogs aren't bad. I don't kill anything other than a coyote or possum that I don't eat. Can't believe someone one would shoot a deer and only take bits and pieces of it.

    moose56...in TN there is NO limit on the number of does you can take. As long as it isn't more than 2 per day.

    Not only is that shameful, but in most states it's a felony to leave meat in the field. Not to mention it only gives the anti-hunters a great photo opportunity. Slob hunters is the word that comes to mind....Almost as bad as guys that participate in 'canned' hunts.

    That is a terrible waste and is illegal everywhere that I know about! Leaves a very bad impression on all hunters and sportsmen!

    Maryland, But in some counties you can take unlimited antlerless deer with a bow.

    It comes down to a moral decision and condoning waste. It is not right to waste God's bounty; we are to use the lands bounty not waste it. People need to show respect for the death of an animal and recover all the edible meat for consumption.

    Could be those people are just lazy, too. The real work starts after you pull the trigger. We get ALL the meat from the game we kill. Sell the skin and feet to a guy that makes stuff from them. Bones, guts and brains are all we don't use.
