How much freedom do you give a 15 yr old???
This is one I'm shure will get some people fussing. My oldest is a constant worry. Not because she is bad....but just not always thinking for herself or planning things out.
She is at the age where she wants to go do things....and be out with people her own age. There are some "younger" church groups that get together on tuesday nights. She has asked if a boy can come take her to these things. I have told her only in groups...and that if her grades weren't improving from what we saw on the last report card....she wouldn't be able to go for long.
My thing is this boy is a bit older and drives...even in a "group" outting there will be times that they will be alone. I know its coming...but how on earth do you let them do anything. I can't figure out what the answer is. I want to let her go. I just try to be as SCARY as possible so they will behave while out on their own.

Ok heres what you do. Put burglar bars on the windows. Get a alarm that goes off very loud and very easily. Tell your daughter they can't leave the house except to go to school. Anytime you see someone of the oppisite sex around the same age as your daughter make sure there is also a shotgun in your hand. Remeber death and mutilation.
Seriously though I have two daughters 9 and 6. I'm very worried about my kids even now. I was a rowdy kid. I did do everything under the sun. Right now I tell my kids no dating until you're 18. Thats not the real story though, but I don't want them to think they can just do anything. To me it's like poker. You don't show your hand until called. I will allow them to date depending on their personalities earliest 16. I'll take care of the guy and scare the crap out of him as much as I can. Hmm I think I need more black leather and chains along with more tatoos and such.0 -
I don't have kids and I'm not that far removed from being a teenager and knowing a lot of scumbags. That being said, I've already informed my wife on how it's going to be.
Door bell rings. She opens door. Young gentleman walks in. I'm sitting in a dimly lit corner, in an old squeaky rocking chair, unshaven, dressed in a full BDU (and possibly red beret), with a bowie knife strapped to one leg, slowly polishing an AK-47, head down, chewing a tooth pick, watching every move he makes with my eyes behind a pair of dark, mirror, traffic cop style glasses, while slowly rocking forward and back in my chair. Empty bottle of hard liquor on the floor, half empty bottle on table next to me. The scent of gun oil fills the room.
Wife offers him a seat and exits room. The following minutes of silence broken only by an old, creaking rocking chair and the sound of course cloth over machined steel. No words are exchanged.
After the planned few minutes of delay, daughter is allowed to enter room and immediately give me a kiss on the cheek while promising to be home by 8 p.m. so I don't get angry. Followed by a gracious thank you for allowing her until 8 p.m. Followed by acknowledgement of said young man. As the two exit the building, before door is closed, bolt is racked a couple times to make sure nothing's loaded.
The whole scenario only feasible after she turns 18, of course. [:0][;)][:D]0 -
Old Quote from a old guy i new a couple of years ago.
When you have a boy, You only have one wiener to worry about.
When you have a girl, You have to worry about every wiener in town.[:D][:D][:D]0 -
well birth control is the fist thing I would think about. Go with the it will help with your periods conversation.
It's is going to happen no matter if you let her go or not. You would not believe the places kids will have sex. Since you cant stop her protect her. Put her on the shot! Dont tust her to take the pill... she is a kid. Give her some condoms.
Being Scary can really back fire. My father was the scary dad, heck he still can be. I didnt bring guys home EVER when I was in school. I met them out and my parents had no clue. Think open and honest... it works best with most.0
