First Step into the wonderfull world of .223 (PIC)

Ive been thinking about building a AR up from a Eagle lower, but the time and funds arent there yet. This will have to hold me over till then.

    Its drilled/tapped for a scope, just gotta line up a mount. I kinda like it, and for 75 bones I couldnt say no. Anyone know if these are reasonably accurate? Its not that old and looks real nice down the barrel.

    I have shot a bunch of the Norinco 223 ammo years ago. It has an amazing flash in low light! The brass quality is not to good and does not always resize well. I went through about 1800 rounds when I couldn't set up to reloiad and it was really cheap in the early 90's. I never had a misfire or failure with it. This was in Mini-14's, AR15's and Rem 700 bolts.
    I think your new rifle will shoot just fine. You can't beat the price.

    Nice, but you may need a thicker recoil pad for that kick-ass .223. It's a killer![:D]

    nice buy. i bouhgt a 22 hornet with 100 rounds of ammo for100.00 couple of months ago just could not pass it up.

    Well. Got a Tasco World Class 3-9x40 scope on it and off to the range tommorow.

    I spent the morning poppin' Prairie Dogs out to about 300 yards with a heavy bbl NEF just yesterday. I'm not able to afford expensive guns, either, but from what I learned yesterday, ya don't need a lot of money to shoot accurately.

    You'll get a lot of good use from that rifle, man.

    I guess you could buy this Rossi with a heavy barrel. Does the heavy barrel really improve accuracy? Is it significant enough to justify the extra cost? Im just shooting paper...and the occasion beer can. I mean soda can...guns and alcohol dont mix.

    My bad. I thought it was an NEF.

    I don't know nothin' 'bout no Rossis.

    In my opinion, Heavy bbls improve accuracy shot to shot.
    Consistancy is the key to any target shooting, be it punching holes in paper or shooting more reactive targets, like Prairie Dogs.

    Don't know about the Rossi, but on the NEF, YES!!! In particular, NEF has a bad problem with the light weight 243 barrels throwing a quick second shot God knows where. My son's bull barrel 243 will shoot great, but not his buddies light weight. Asked around on some NEF forums about it, and the consensus was that the light barrel was the problem, and NEF was aware of it.
