Know anything about stamp collections?
I've got this stamp collection that belonged to my father many, many years ago. I've looked through them, but I really don't know what I'm looking at. I just wonder if any of these are worth $$$$. There are a LOT of very old stamps. Anybody that can give me a little advice....I really don't want to keep them. Where can I sell them?

It's like any collectible... you could try to find a reputable stamp dealer and have them appraised. Your local library may have a Scott's Stamp Catalog (or you can buy one) which will list values within reason, but then you need to recognize the condition of the stamp. Check the yellow pages for a local stamp (philatelic) club. They usually have regular meetings and shows where you may find a dealer/appraiser.
An appraiser will probably charge you for his/her service and give you a value acceptable for insurance purposes. A dealer will probably look at them and make an offer, bearing in mind he would leave room to sell them at a profit, probably about 50% of value.0 -
check other auction houses on the web--if you can find one specific to stamps...all the better. it's a cheap, easy (if not terribly reliable) place to figure out if it's worth consulting an expert appraiser. 0 -
Lick 'em and stick 'em! With the price of postage nowdays, maybe you could come out ahead doing that! [;)] 0
