Students not allowed to speak English
....I have the news on, and am only half listening. I didn't catch the city, I think it was in MN but here's the gist of it:
..Students were kicked off a school bus for speaking English. School officials said the bus routes had been re-configured to accommodate non English speaking students, therefore, only Spanish is allowed on that route.

I agree that it should have been handled differently. Read the entire article and see the reason why.
It turns out the bus route was meant to serve one of the district's three language academies.
The Armstrongs also learned that when they moved last year, they landed outside of Phalen's attendance area. Armstrong said she was told her kids would have to transfer if they wanted to keep riding a bus, "or I'd have to find my own way to get them to school."

I'd want to ride that route with a CS grenade hidden in my backpack. I'd put up with the effects of the gas...I know I can handle it. It'd be funny just to watch everyone else go stumbling off the bus crying, coughing, drooling and puking. 0 -

It was not Spanish, the bus was for Hmong immigrant students attending a local language academy to learn English. The Hmong are from Southeast Asia.
Technically, they weren't kicked off for speaking English, they were kicked off because they did not attend the language academy that the bus serviced. It was the fact that they spoke English that tipped off the bus driver that the kids weren't students at the language academy.0 -

Deaths don't have to occur in order for someone to be labeled a terrorist.
CS on a crowded bus? A death or two is a definate possibility considering there's going to be a hell of a stampeded trying to get off the bus.
A CS grenade in the barracks community shower? Now THATS funny[:D][:D]0 -
...Thanks for the story link, Larry. Like I said, I was only half listening. If the kids don't mind riding the bus with Hmong kids, what's the big deal? Just MAYBE the Hmong would benefit from inter-acting with English speaking kids, and vice versa.
...It reeks of another case of wanting to be equal but separate and exempt.0 -
An article I did read said something about protecting the Hmong kids also.
Here in Florida if you dont attend the school the bus is from you cant get on it either.
I dont think the problem was the kids speaking english, just that the bus was specifically for those Hmong kids from the language academy and just the fact they were speaking english put them on the wrong bus.

it would be considered terrorism if the occupants of the bus were deemed "in fear for their lives". since the average person doesnt know the difference between nerve gas and cs, they could very well be in fear. i know the first time i was exposed to cs i thought i was going to die. gets easier every time but that first time is hell 0 -
Do some reading on CS. VERY high concentrations in a confined space can be lethal. Add in people that have respiratory problems (Asthma, COPD) or heart problems, and yes, you can kill someone with CS. Or smoke. 0 -

Yeah, you gotta use the roll-on CS it's more PC and won't contribute to global warming. 0
