For several years Alabama had the second best college coach in the history of the game- that's why they're my second favorite college team. My first favorite is the team that had college footballs best coach, The Monsters of the Midway. 0 -

I see we have another person that believes what the likes of Howard Cosell and the rest of the talking head announcers rhetoric. The NFL Chicago Bears are NOT the Monsters of the Midway. Get a Map, see where the Midway is. It runs through the campus of the University of Chicago. and no, it isn't University of Illinois, Chicago Circle campus. The team is the Maroons, who have been such legends a Jay Berwanger, the prototype and charter recipient of the Heisman Trophy. The coach, whom Bear Bryant on the occasion of passing Amos Alonzo Stagg in number of victories, becoming the coach with most career wins, stated that Stagg was the best coach to ever play the game. And you don't have to take my word for it- go ask Notre Dame. In their glory years, One for the Gipper and all that- The Maroons are 4 wins agains 0 losses against ND. So where are they now? As a statement against the turning of colleges into trade schools, in particular becoming a farm system for the NFL, The University withdrew from the Big 10, leasing their franchise to Michigan State. They could let the lease lapse and once again start producing football players, but they'd rather be remembered as the school that brought the end to World War II, held firm in their beliefs of a free economy as articulated by Milton Friedman and Gary Becker (both of whom received Nobel prizes in economics), I could go on, but you may get the point. 0 -

Yea I have heard of it, but I don't associate UC with that anymore than asscociating Canada with the M1 Garand. Even without UC we still would have had the "Big one" It had to be delovoped somewhere I guess, so I can't take that away from UC. 0 -
