Just curious but what do you do that allows you to be off on the weekdays? Wish I was.

He is "disabled". Yet another person who is disabled enough to not work, but can go deer hunting all day and reseed their lawn when needed. My aunt is the same way. Go figure.

And NO, I'm not picking on him. There are tens of millions of people like this in the USA. Just stating the truth.

I fully admit that I can do most anything as long as it is at my own pace!

That is were the problem lies is that my pace is not fast enuff to satisfy an employer!

What takes most people 2 hours to do might take me all day because of the joint pain and such.

I wish I could still work as I go stir crazy most of the time from not haveing anything to do! Hunting season is the one time of year that I do happen to stay pretty active as I do head out to the woods most days right after I send the kids off to school.

The rest of the year I am pretty much right here at the house and on the computer unless I am doing my little bit of house work to keep things in order.

This GWI is a pain in the ARS because you don't know how you are going to feel from one day to the next. I have lots of days that it is all I can do to get out of bed! But as a single parent I have to make myself get up or else the kids will not be taken care of.

kevin don't feel you have to explain a damn thing, some people think you have to be a quadriplegic to really be disabled or Stephen Hawkins {he just sets a bad example[:)]},i wouldn't trade my work ability for your condition + a million dollars, it's not like they hand out checks to anyone that applies

it's about time you fixed that lawn

Not interested in getting into THIS,.....but Steven Hawking does not collect disability to my knowledge.
You do what you have to do I guess.
I would rather see someone like GRD get benefits, than the drug addicts, alcoholics, and simply obese people that have made themselves too fat to work, that make up a large portion of the "disabled" population.
    I don't live in his shoes,.......therefore I don't know how he feels!

    Kevin,

How many deer can you shoot during season ? Here in IA. you have 1 tag per deer with various seasons. I have 4 tags this year, first season I'm in starts Dec. 1.

i was referring to his disability not how he makes a living, are you saying stephen hawkings is not disabled ether, geesh what does a guy have to do around here to be disabled[:D]

I understand where GRD is coming from. I have fibromyalgia, and have had it my entire life. Problem is, Doctors would not even recognize it as a real condition until recently. It is not fun, aching badly and having no one even believe there is something wrong with you.

I am afraid that is going to be the diagnosis for my fiance.
She has symptoms consistent with fibromyalgia, and has had many tests done.
They are testing her for Lyme disease next week, and also she is going to a neurologist in a few weeks.
Just unexplained pains in her joints,.....migranes, and muscle pain, for no apparent reason.
She doesn't want to be declared "disabled", just trying to find out why she feels like she does.
I have tried everything to help, but it seems to be getting worse.

We can take 10 here. I got 4 doe tags and we have many either sex days were a doe tag is not needed.

But the total allowed is 10 for the whole season.

I am also close enuff that I can get a North Carolina licence and I believe that will give me another 10 from that state as well. I am only about 12 miles from NC so it is not a problem going up there as long as I have a place to hunt.

That is the diagnosis that many of us (not me) with GWI have been given!

As for me they are still calling it "Undiagnossed Illnesses"!

I have 27 different medications that I have to take on a daily basis. But at this point all they are doing is treating symptoms and not the illness itself. Over the years the dosses of these medications have been raised many times as the symptoms have progressively gotten worse.

Where do you live? There are DRs now that specialize in fibro, she really needs to see a Fibro Specialist. General DRs and neurologists are worthless in treating it. I am 45 and have been living with it all my life. I just got feeling good the last two years, when I found DRs that specialize in fibro. These guys are real good, if they have a center near you: http://www.fibroandfatigue.com/center_locations.php

Good luck to her, it is not fun to have.

Yes, I can believe that. From what I have read, the symptoms of GWI and Fibro are nearly identical. When I was a kid, I was always complaining of pain in my joints and down both sides of my neck. The DRs always told my parents I was making it up, as they could never find anything wrong, so I just quit saying anything and ate asprin etc. like candy. A few years ago, a coworker told me that her sister has the same symptoms I do and told me about her fibro DRs. That was the first time I had gotten any real relief from the symptoms.

Closest to us is Atlanta. We are in central Florida.
This started about 1.5 years ago,......she never had any symptoms before.
She has already had the r-factor test for rheumatoid arthritis done, and it was negative. I suggested that after finding that a person in her family line had it.
The general practitioner keeps trying to link it to depression, and has tried to put her on SSRI's.
She is not depressed, just fatigued, and constantly aching in the joints, especially her legs. The migranes started right afterwards.
I thought since she has a sedentary job, that she needed some more muscle tone, and encouraged her to work out on my home gym equipment.
Things got worse, and she just didn't have the stamina to do it after awhile.
She is 43, and is in good shape,......5' 6", and weighs about 130 pounds.
We are both confused, but I thought about fibromyalgia through some reasearch,......but don't wish to plant thoughts in her head.
Thanks much for the link, and I am sorry for "hijacking" the thread for another purpose.

There is much research on Fibro that suggests it is started by a chronic viral infection, so she could have easily caught the virus 1.5 years ago. (I probably caught it as a child.) And yes, the regular DRs will just assume she is depressed and put her on meds, that is what they do. Find her a Fibro specialist. Here is a DR in Florida, he had it himself:

Pretty liberal limits. But in TN, there is no limit on anterless deer. I don't care for that, I do take a couple of doe a year, my son will take a couple, but some go way overboard. I still say the insurance companies are in cahoots with the TWRA to thin the herd because of deer/car claims.
