Three-time Cup champion and NASCAR on FOX analyst Darrell Waltrip, one of Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s friendly rivals, traveled from Nashville at Earnhardt's request to join him for Thursday's announcement.
"This was incredibly difficult, a lot of emotion and the hardest thing he's had to deal with up until now," Waltrip said of Earnhardt's decision to leave DEI. "This is a big deal."
Now, Earnhardt must decide which team is the best fit for him.
"I've always thought RCR just because of the Childress-Earnhardt relationship," said Waltrip of Richard Childress Racing, where the elder Earnhardt won six of his seven championships. "I have personally have always thought the racing world would be right if Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove the black No. 3 car."

Teresa is as hard nosed a business person as Sr. was a driver. She refuses to relinquish control and that is her right. Do I think this is the best or most ethical decision, no, but that's just my opinion. Jr. has never had the best relationship with her, and I think he is making the right decision for HIM. I too would like to see him in the 3 car. 0 -

Honestly if you had the chance to market your name for millions of dollars you also would want to take it for all you could!

He's a power hungry, cry baby, ego maniac because he thinks that he runs NASCAR and everyone should bow down to him because his daddy was Dale Earnhardt. When he looses, it's always someone else fault from his step mother, to his crew, to other drivers to track owners.
His dad was the same way, and he always said if you blocked him, he would put you into the wall. That's exactly what he was doing for Jr. when he was killed.
Still, his dad, with all his faults, was a heck of a driver. Jr. is an average driver who "thinks" is a heck of a driver. I don't care what he markets himself as, and in fact, I think it's smart to get all you can while you can, but to put yourself up as the best when your not, and fool thousands of fans who just want to eat it up is crazy.
He puts his pants on just like you or I, one leg at a time. He's nothing special.0 -

Danny...you are in my prayers! When all the Jr-heads read what you wrote, you will need them. But...I agree with you 100%! Lest they forget, let me remind them....HE HAS ONLY WON 2 RACES SINCE OCTOBER 2004! Some record! He is a mediocre driver who has made a great living on his name. Nothing to be ashamed of...but if his name was Dale Henderson and not Dale Earnhardt, there wouldn't be all the uproar over him.0
