Updated Gun Room Pics
Well I have been waiting a long time for this, sent it off in December. I promised pics so here they are.
While I am doing pics I thought I would share a few more. As some know I just bought a new house and decided to build a gun room in the basement. My dad finally got some time to come help me frame and get the first layer of walls up yesterday. From here me and my brother can do the rest. I am going to get it done to the point that I can start bringing my goodies from my old house. I built a tempoary gun rack until I can get the wall finished that I will hang them on.
Here is a quick pic of the quick rack I built and the couple of rifles I have here now:
Well since everyone likes the room I will add some more pics of the walls going up:

Very cool!! I am planning on a similiar project for my future basement(when I graduate college and can afford a house that is). I will be looking foward to seeing pictures of you progress and may have some questions for ya in the future.

I've closed off my own room in my basement for a gun room. My reloading equipment is down there, along with a stereo and TV, bookshelf and cabinet.
I've realized it's too damp down there to store guns. Would be ok I'd imagine with another dehumidifier, but we're only going to be there another couple years.
I plan on sectioning my basement in my next house off with a double-block wall and one of those Browning Vault Doors.

where did you find straight 2x4s? the ones we have up here in Oregon look like cork screws.

Stupid question: wouldn't it be easier to bring the safe in before building the walls? Looks good, I wish I had that kind of room... 0 -

Most of the lumber was stuff that was in the basemet already. They had some crapy framing done and not where I wanted. When I go to finish the rest I am going to have to buy some of that new crapy lumber [V]
Here is what it looked like when we moved in and there was anohter small room behind where I am taking the pic that had more 2x4's:

Not dumb question. I am not putting safes in, I am building a reasonaly secure room. I still have a couple layers of walling to put on, that is just one days work. It would just be sheetrock walls if it was not a gun room. I cant get too carried away since when I sell the house it is going to be a master bedroom. If you will notice the lower end of the frame is bolted to the floor not just nailed and the top side has many many nails.0 -
It looks like it has been wet before.
You might want to keep things off the floor & watch the humidity.

There is a crack in the wall there and it has leaked in the past. It has not been wet this year. That is something I plan on fixing prior to finishing the wall.
Good eye though. That pic was taken durring the inspection and we had the wall pulled prior to making a deal.0 -

Here are a couple more pics. I got about half my stuff moved in [:D]. I still need to do all the finish work, but at least I have my toys again. I have a large 6'x4' table comming for the middle of the room and 2 2'x4' benches to mount my reloading stuff on (still at the old house).0 -

WOW!!!
The HK really turned out nice! The black dye appears to have produced excellent results over the standard gray. Are you pleased with the result? You should post the series of pictures before and after style so some other members can see what you started with.
WTH is up with the basement! Dongizmo was wrong about the water leak, that is just the remnants of my wet dream! Please email me a map to your house, so when the SHTF I can make my way!

Very similar to my setup there...minus about 30 guns!!! I framed a 11x10 section of my basement and put up a couple racks and my reloading stuff in it. Walls are 3/4" plywood under the drywall. Luckily my basement has french drains and I don;t get water. My dehumidifier takes care of the rest. 0 -
How about e-mailing us all a map!? This looks like a good SHTF location for us all to converge on. [:D]

The main room is 15'x13' and then the closet is about 5' deep and about 10' long. I will be put up more pics as I get more done.
I am very happy with the USC, it was definatily worth the money. The dye turned out great, I was worried since some of the pics I have seen were kinda purpleish. This gun is a nice deep dark black. I was at a MG shoot on Saturday and they have a .40 UMP and other then BBL length and the metal mag you could hardly tell the difference. On this conversion there is NOT a paddle mag release or bolt hold open. In the rear where the push pin is to hold the lower on is a bit different, but not much. Unless you have them side by side they are very hard to tell apart. The gun shoots great, I am able to easily pick up bowling pins at about 100 yards.
Good point on doing before and afters.

Well here are a couple quick pics of the room as it is at the moment. I have the exterior walls up and have a heavy door with a great lock set on it. I got my benches yesterday and I am planning on getting my reloading press and equipment this weekend. I still have a lot of work to do but it is comming along.
I know the second AR from the top need triangular handgaurds, they are on their way.0 -
