We were talking about filters--now a fuel question
How long do you think it takes for fuel to "go flat". I have no idea what happens to fuel that sits in a tank without fuel stabilizer. I have a gas can with fuel about 3 weeks old. I'm debating whether to dump it in my Blazer or in my Harley.

When it stops smelling like gas and starts smelling like varnish, then it's bad. It takes longer than 3 weeks. Takes months. 0 -
you can definately use that 3 week old gas. 0 -
If your worried about it go ahead and add some stabilizer to it, the Mechanic that works on my golf cart it can't hurt or won't hurt it and makes you feel better.[8D][:)] 0 -
Harley states that if your bike is going to sit over six weeks you need to add the stabilizer! 0 -
I have gone longer than two months with no problem but I have rebuilt motorcycle carbs that have been sitting for years and have found the fuel in the floatbowl to be as solid as sterno! Just like jello! 0 -
put it in the blazer. if you put it in the harley, that's one more thing to figure out why it doesn't run! 0 -
3 weeks will be no problem. I have left gas in the can over the winter and ran it the following spring in my 4-wheeler and mower, no problem at all. Might get some Sea Foam and put in it to ease your mind, but it won't really matter. USE IT! 0
