Need some advice on a gun safe purchase...

My parents are looking to but a gun safe for guns, coins and whatnot.
They are looking to stay below $1000. So far they are interested in one made by stack on in the elite series.
Can anyone give me any feedback about this product line??

  I was doing a little looking and the fire rateing is not that hot (good) 1400-degrees for 30 minutes [V] an avage fire take 45 min to 1 hour and gets 1600 + theres better safes out there.

  Rember the good old days, when a gun safe wasn't a nessicaty, I do. People used to take pride in the appereance of their gun case. Had it so's it was teh first thing you see when you walk in the door. It sure aint that way no more is it. Why is that. For all of you that say there is no more crime today than there was in the past, that we just know about it quicker now because of better tech, why is it that you have to have a gunsafe in todays world to keep your firearms from being stolen. ALso why is it that a country store cannot leave things for sale out on the porch overnite anymore, if there is trly no more crime today than in years past. bleenin sweetie bunch of criminal apologist, pisses me the bleen off.

  I was looking at the Elite 16-24 gun safe local shop has one for $800.00 and will deliver and set up in my garage for an extra $50
  door feels a little slopy but overall not bad.Im not worried about fire just thieves.

  Stack On has really improved their product line in the last few years. They use to make just sheet metal cabinets. I saw the Elite series at the Shot Show this month. Really looks good.
  
  I never cared for fire ratings - just keeping the thieves out. If you have a house fire that leaves only the brick chimmney standing - the safe isn't an issue.
  
  Sentry makes a similar product. At $1K they can get a nice sized product. Let us know what they buy and how they like it.

  Thanks for the replies. They looked at the browning line and then went to look at the stack on and said the stack on won hands down.
  They havent made a buy yet but plan to soon.

  Steven, what brand are those? And, how many guns will each hold and what is the fire rating?

  I get them from john deere, But they are actually Heritage made.

  They each way about 700 pounds.
  
  They will each hold 25 long guns, But you can set them up to have shelving on one side and store your guns on the other. I have got both of mine filled to the max and i am thinking of getting a third one.[:D]

  I currently have 3 of the Stack On 16 gun safes. I can not remember the model number but they are NOT fire rated. As much as I would like a good safe I could not afford one that would hold all my stuff. Fire is a possablity, but I am more worried about theft since I am gone lots. I work out of town so I am gone more then I am home. The nice thing about these ones is they were $350 each and in WA there is NO sales tax on safes.
  
  The pic only showes 2 safes, but I now have a 3rd where the old tin black safe is. All 3 are bolted together in each corner and all are bolted to the floor.
