The most common one people are talking about is the 1994 AWB, since they have forgotten about all the other bans [V]. From 1994 to 2004 domestic firearms could not have "evil" features like flash hiders, bayonet lugs, folding stocks. A pre ban gun would be one made before 1994. There is also the 89' ban which says the same thing but it is for imported firearms and it has not ended. There is tons more info if you would like it but that is the basics.

Some states still have bans that are very similar to the 94' AWB so there is a psuedo pre ban still.

You have to go back farther than the 1994 AWB for that - more like 1934.

OK, thanks. Sometimes I thought it referred to semi-automatic vs. fully automatic. Thanks for the clarification.

while it does date firearms pre 94, it means nothing by federal standards because the ban is no more, some may argue it is used a bit deceptively because technically pre-ban no longer exist, and generally means nothing towards actual value

From the way people advertise, they think it adds more value.

The funniest ones are when they advertise a firearm as preban, when it was never even on the ban list....

Yes it is true that the FEDERAL 94" AWB ended there are a few STATES that still have laws that are based on the 94" ban. In those states it DOES make a difference if the guns are "Pre Ban" guns or not.

Are they worth more? Maybe to some a higher price worth it to be able to own one. Now as a gun guy that believes that most people show be allowed to have any gun they want would not shaft someone just because they live in a state with bad laws. I have a gun up on auction right now and I do have pre ban listed in the title as it lets buyers from those states know it is legal there to vs a post 94' gun.
