    Just a couple language errors that seem to perpetuate themselves:

    Moron = idiot
    Maroon = a color between dark red and purple, or a verb meaning to be stranded.

    LOL ... I certainly beg to differ on that one! Whenever I call someone a moron - he/she gets really pissed - fight'en mad!

    When I call him a 'moroon' - I get a smile and laughter from bystanders!

    ... also, baseball is for maroons!

    .... learned that a long time ago - has been very helpful.

    I'm sorry, but if calling someone a Maroon is good enough for Bugs Bunny, it's good enough for me. [;)][;)]

    I've wondered if that has been an intentional error on some poster's parts.

    Another one is irregardless. There is no such word. Its just 'regardless'.

    Do you send your 'irregards' to people? No, just your 'regards'.

    The point is, do all the parties to the discussion understand what is being said??

    If they do, spelling is irrelevant.

    It may have been noticed that I quit correcting Members spelling a few weeks ago, when I arrived at the preceding
    epiphany. (HA - used it again !!!)

    Find something that matters upon which to devote your very significant brain power.

    No.....no. The language is a living thing and sometimes it shifts in a meaningful way, such that existing words acquire new meanings or such that entirely new words enter the lexicon. That's natural. I think it's ugly, but I fully accept that "Google" has become a meaningful verb.

    And then sometimes the language is just abused and then it is right to try and correct the problem. Substituting the wrong word is not a spelling error, nor is it introducing a new word, nor is it expanding the definition of an existing word. It's just wrong, and it needs to be corrected. I think that's what I'm trying to do here.

    Edit: I often am tempted to correct spelling (it's "etc", not "ect" for example) but I generally do not do so. I'm bitching here about word usage, not spelling.
