TV gun oopsies

In the spirit of the "movie gun oopsies," I noticed something in the latest episode of "CSI: Miami" that really pissed me off.

If any of you are familiar with the show, the hottest hot chick in the world, Callie, has a shooting incident because some bad guys try to run her down with a car.

Back at the lab, one of the other characters says something to the effect of, "Man, did you hear what happened to Callie? It's scary out there. As soon as I pass my [police] firearms proficiency, I'm going to buy myself an off-duty gun."

WHAT? Is she not an American citizen? A citizen of Florida? Why does an LEO (ok, granted she's a lab tech/CSI) need to pass a target proficiency course in order to buy a firearm? Is that the case in FL?

    i think she wants to be able to hit what she shoots, not the pray and spray option. And some Divisions in the US actually can't carry off Duty and i think need a gun permit b/c they can't carry there police issue gun.

    i may be right or wrong on the permit though.


    EDIT: I did some research and some cops or peace police and reserve can't carry with out a CCW

    Wow. That sucks to be an LEO then if you're at the mercy of the department for your gun rights.

    However, being a former military guy, I understand the restrictions the government puts on your rights.

    On that same show they have done lots of mess ups. I dont watch it very much but my GF does, I like regular one in LV.

    I know on one show not to long ago they had the wrong ammo in the wrong kind of gun.

    The real bad one was a couple weeks ago they found a bullet that had an "extra" mark on it. They then determined that mark came from using a silencer as bullet brushed along it. I sure hope my bullets NEVER hit the inside of my can, that is very very bad. Yes I know some of the older cans used wipes but that is not the kind they were showing.
