Best receiver to build an AR-15 with.
If you were to build a bench/target AR-15 what reciever would you use. I'm hear RRA might be a better choice. I think a flat upper with a raised rail and no forward assist might be best.

I've built more than a couple AR's ... I'd stay away from Colt because of the pin sizes. Olympic's are the only ones I've felt weren't quite to spec but only because the upper and lower were very tight (to the point I'd have to set it down and apply downward pressure to the upper to get the rear pin out.
Other than that I've used Bushmaster, DPMS, Armalite, Egale, PWA, BOHICA to name a few.
DPMS used to make a Stainless Steel lower but not sure if they still do or not.0 -
It is not so much the lower receiver that makes good accuracy in an AR build.
It is the other components of the build that will make your AR an accurate rifle.
We stock and sell STAG, RRA, Bushmaster, DPMS and DoubleStar.
DoubleStar being my favorite for an AR build.0 -
What about those "Titanium Drill your own pinholes", (and tap for the barrel threads??) Is it easy to do?? I have a drillpress and hand tools - nothing more. 0 -
I am not sure which ones each make but there are only a few company that actually only a few companies that make many of the pieces that are used in the average gun then marked with which company is selling them. Most of the part until you step into the high end makers like JP, LMT and others.
As for off the shelf I am VERY happy with my Bushmaster Varminiter. It will easily hold under 1 MOA [:D].0 -

If you are talking about true 80% receivers you will most likely need more then that to do it. If you are talking about the ones that were being sold that you had to drill a few holes and then screw them together the ATF shut them down a while back. I am not sure of the current status though.0
