What kind of rails?
Ok, so some of you know that I am working on a suppressed 9mm upper for an AR. I pretty much am going to have to have one built since most made are less then 16" bbls and live in a NON SBR state.
I have a call into SRT arms (http://www.srtarms.com/) since they say they can make a 16" set up. There stock photo looks nice, but I am looking for cool upgrades [:D].
Here is the pic from their web site:

I was looking at the S.I.R rails (http://www.armsmounts.com/catalog.php?action=110&cat_id=8) and wondering if anyone has used these or if you know of something better.
I think I am looking for longer rails since I have to have a 16" bbl that will not have a front site to break up the lenght of the suppressor.
Any thoughts or help would be great.

I understand that but you can not put standard handgaurds on this gun. You are going to want something that is not touching the silencer since it will get very warm. If you have anyother ideas on a way to do that I would like to know. That is the point of this post.0 -
If it was me doing a build like that I wouldn't want any accesories attached to it so I would use a regular round free float handguard and then have it custom slotted by a machinist. Something like vertical slots 1/4" wide by 1" long all equally spaced.
Picture this guard with the 1/4" slots for air flow.

the suppressor should be the same diamater as what is used on the MP-5SD, so you should be able to use the same handguard, or if that dosent work what's wrong with the standard suppressed 9mm handguard?0 -

Now that is a cool idea. All I have to do is find one and not sure how hard that is.
About the only reason I am looking at some kind of rails is for a light. If I want to add a light I can always just add a short chunk of rail to hook it too.0
