Did anyone see the show about the HK417 yesteray? What an awesome weapon!

not to be a smart arss, but i believe you are referring to the H&K 416.
it is basicaly a gas piston upper for a standard AR platform.

now if they would chamber it in 6.8 and issue it to us GIs i would be a happy guy

i don't like the add on grenade launcher though . . . it looks to bulky to me to be useful.

I thought they were talking about the 417 - they burried it in the sand, immersed it in water, etc, never had a misfire, never had an issue. Ran a full beta mag through it and the bolt wasn't even warm to the touch. Quite a reliable rifle!

Looks cool, but would be too bulky to carry around everywhere.

There is a 416 and 417 model

416 = M16 = .223
417 = SR25 = .308

Just look at the mag that should give it away.
