New York New York the city so nice.... Help!
I have a cyber friend originally from Hiroshima Japan who has been in New York for only 6 days.
She is very lonely. Her parents had to tell her to stop calling home.
She says she's taking 12 - 14 tranquilizers per day and she's begging me to come there to give her a hug.
I don't think she quite gets the geography and distance involved.
Advice on how to help her out from here. If it makes any difference her current address is on W 29th St just off of 8th or 9th avenue.
edit = change actual address to approximate.

Henry,
I wonder if she were to contact the Japanese embassy in NY? (UN?) it might comfort her to speak to someone from "home"?

Boy, the possibilities are mind-boggling... 0 -
I've an uncommitted single son on 6th St in the village. He's a P.E., well travelled and knows places of interest to young people in the City.
If you have a photo and some info, email me and I will forward it to him.
We'll be up there on the 27-30th for son #2s wedding.0 -

If you are such a good friend......why are you giving her address out for everyone to read ? It is probably not a safe thing to do, and I would not it if it were my friend - alone in NY City ! 0 -

It's a huge transient apartment house but you do make a good point. I'll change that.0 -
She's a pretty girl Henry. Too bad she isn't closer to me.

There've gotta be Japanese cultural clubs, Japanese restaurants that are authentic enough to draw native speakers.....etc, in NYC. She should try to find those if she's homesick.
NYC's a big, scary city when first you move there, but then if I understand Japan correctly, most of the country is a big scary city.
Frankly, it sounds like your friend might have problems that go beyond homesickness. If she lacks a social network, I'm not sure what you can do about that from Indiana.0
