Need advice on personal injury for my daughter
My daughter is 6 years old. She was at a friends playing unsupervised on a trampoline. Long story short, her PCL is completely torn and maniscus is damaged. This will require custom braces for the rest of her childhood to play any sports and eventually, a surgery.
Now I have never dealt with lawyers so I need to know, how should a reasonable contingency agreement read, red flags, proper fees, etc???And what is an acceptable outcome??
Just want to make sure we don't screw this up for my little girl. And hoping to tap into anybody's personal experience or any good lawyer's knowledge of what to do. Thanks for any help GB crowd!

Why should it come to a lawsuit?
Homeowner insurance should cover. Should remove the homeowner from the equation, so there are no hard feelings between you and your friend.
I only had one similar incident when my kids were small. I made one phone call to State Farm and gave the adjuster the name and number of the injured party. State Farm paid bills and settled. I heard no more about it.
Good advice~~~0 -

I am so VERY sorry to hear what has happened to your family and your little girl's pain. Good thing about all of this is that she will be all healed up and pain free....she will have even forgotten most of what happened and all you will be going through WAY WAY before it is over. What I haven't seen or maybe missed was what did these people say when they realized your daughter was SERIOUSLY injured? Have you contacted them about this since you found out the severity of it all....and have they contacted you and made any attempts to show and care for what has happened.
I would just DIE if something happened to anyone's child at my home. I do have a trampoline....but I have NEVER let other people's kids jump on it without their parents being here and allowing it themselves....and even then I have only let them on with us in the area so we could stop any over-zealous behaviour (which all kids I have ever know have had play slowly climb into a frenzy of wild abandonment....which must be crushed like a bug immediately.)0 -

ok did you know that your friends had the trampoline if so why did you just tell tehm not to let her on on it.
my kids have one also my youngest is 6 and she has got hurt on it before but I new that was a risk it did not mater that I was standing right there when it happened because there was nothing I could have done.now if a friend of hers was over and got hurt then that was a risk that the parents new would be there if they did not mind them on it.the only thing is I have home owners and the 1st thing I would have done was to offer to pay the bill by filing on my ins. not because it was my fault but because its my place.0 -
These people were doing you a favor by watching your kid. Admittedly they didn't do a stupendous job of it, but by leaving your kid in their care you are assuming a certain amount of risk.
Try to settle this as amicably as possible... avoid any legal actions unless that is your absolute last option. The way I see it, no one is really to blame here except the older kid.0 -
