back from the range (w/pics)

ok, first will be the enfield 303. i can see why the brits used this rifle for so long. easy action to cycle and on target with the first round. i shot 3 boxes(60rds) and the pic below is about the same for all enfield targets. with more practice i am certain i can tighten the grouping.

next is the mauser. i can see why the germans lost the war(lol). first of all, the 8mm kicks like a mule. i took 1 1/2 boxes to figure out how i needed to align the sites to hit the target. i am not thrilled with the sites. if i can get it to shot tight groups from a gun vise, i may put a good scope on this rifle.

last but not least is the garand, at first i thought i had bought a lemon. the first 2 clips(16rds) hit nothing, nada, zero, zilch. then i figured out to adjust the sites, they were way off. so with a few more clips, to adjust the sites, i was finally able to group the shots below. now i just need to fine tune to zero it.

    Looks like you had fun. I still have yet to fire the Mauser I bought. I heard that they have some punch. And that garand (once dialed in) looks like the reason we won the war.

    Those old military rifle are a hoot to shoot. I took my M44 out last weekend and got about 1 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards. Problem: it was 5 inches low and three to the left. I'll bring my punch, hammer and file out next time and get it dialed in. Once I get it centered , I'll move to 100 yards and "adjust" with the file til it's about 4 inches high there.

    I took a friend with me, too. He has several Argentine Mausers in 7.65. He nearly separated his shoulder with them. The next day he bought a Savage bolt action .22 mag to practice with![:D]

    The Garand target looks nice.

    i dont think the argentines kick too bad. i can fire around 30-40 rounds and my arm is tired from the weight of the gun.

    tell him to check out ammunitionstore.com if he doesnt reload. they have 7.65 dirt cheap

    The Garand target looks great. I gotta say that the Mauser target doesn't look that much worse to me than the Enfield target. Anyway, enjoy them all, and thanks again.
