    Probably the first ones like George Washington. Those guys really fought. That's just my opinion though, not a fact.

    I would say Herbert Hoover. He was in charge of relief after WWI.

    I don't know if it was "hundreds" but Ronald Reagan was a lifeguard.
    I seem to recall that he even saved one boy while he was Governor.

    Beat me by 12 seconds.

    I live in Ronald Reagan's hometown. He claimed to have saved 89 swimmers in the Rock River 1928 - 1930 I like Ronnie but facts were a little confusing to him!! Also, some of the girls he "saved" just wanted to get his attention.....as several old people who actually knew him told me. I'd still take Reagan over the miserable W bush or Clinton!
