How to NOT stretch page w/ long URL

Don't you hate it when you've got topic you want to read and it gets stretched out really wide by a link?

There's a couple ways to fix that. One is go to www.tinyurl.com, input your long url and get back a short one. There is a disadvantage to this as trolls/hackers can disguise a malicious url with the tiny one.

You can also use this format:

{url="actual url goes here"}Text that appears goes here{/url} The actual url in quotes does not appear on the page no matter how big it is. Use regular brackets [ ] instead of shift brackets { }

For example (quote this post if you still don't get it and need to see) My match box on the block

I nominate this for a sticky and/or adding this information into the FAQ/forum guidelines.

  I hope people read (and USE) this Henry.
  
  People that use Photobucket for pics can EASILY reduce the size of their pics with the "Edit" button right above the pic. Don't know why they don't do it. [:(]
  25% at a time, until it fits is easy to do. (NOT the "preset" 50%)
  
  Some threads might be good ones, don't know, I won't scroll back and forth to find out.

  Perhaps if the mods/admins would make it a sticky, and remind members occasionally, it would get used, but it's 1 extra step, and most are too lazy, it seems.
  
  Sure would be nice, though.

  If you use FireFox browser, you can download the add on extension "BBCodeXtra" (here). This extension can really simplify your life with all forums that use BBCode or Html codes when posting links, images, etc. It will virtually write the code for you. One of the many reasons I prefer FireFox.
  
  Peon: This forum uses BBCode not HTML.
