Why go there. The non-belivers aren't going to change the believers mind, and visa versa. All they do is turn into a chain pulling heated exchange.
Each side thinks they are in possetion of facts they other isn't, and the other is just dumb.
Neither side is willing to let the other believe as they wish withou insulting or belittling them.
Good grief!

This isn't defending your faith. This is personal attacks and insults. It's just plane arguing!0 -
Exactly. Its like arguing with a brick wall. 0 -
To any who I may have offended, I sincerely apoligize. I love all you guys, and we are all gun loving Americans. At the very least we have that in common. 0 -

Fact - something true that can be proven to the ignorant with evidence.
Idea - something conceived in the mind and may be conveyed to the ignorant, however, cannot be accepted as 100%-guaranteed-true without evidential support. Ideas are subject to change upon viewing evidence which may either support or refute the idea.
Belief - an idea that is accepted as 100%-guaranteed-true without evidential support. Beliefs are dangerous because the holder of a belief thinks it is a fact when it cannot be proven as a fact to the ignorant; the holder of a belief may say those who don't share the same beliefs are wrong when there is actually no evidence to suggest that the "non-believers" are wrong.
Ideas generate conversations, bring people together, and encourage the spread of knowledge. Beliefs consolidate power, stifle the weak, and stymie the spread of knowledge.0 -

Sowing it, not stuffing it down someones throat. The bible says, "let your light shine", not, "go shine it in their eyes."
The life you lead is supposed to make them want what you have, you're not supposed to try to force them to take it.
I think some of you are listening to TV preachers rather than reading your bibles.0 -

for many people it is a very personal thing to have your faith questioned. no one has the right to belittle them if they feel as if they are being attacked. so their rebuttals are going to sound as if they are a petulent child, and rightly so. it's one thing to ask a question to provide proof, too many people need that nowadays to believe in anything, but to sucker punch someone by implying they are stupid to believe in something they have no physical proof of is low and just plain being an a-hole.
the way many of the attcks against faith come from the viewpoint of "there are too many contradictions in the Bible for it to be true so your stupid for believing it." then they say, "oh yeah...prove it."
Why should I have to prove something they don't believe in anyway? i can never produce enough physical proof for them to accept my faith, and they could never disprove it to me. At that point, we are at an impass and I say you go your way and I'll go mine. Good luck and may God bless.
If any of my remarks offend or just outright piss someone off I'm not going to apologize for it. they need to ask themselves "why? what was it that was said that offended me and why did it?" none of my remarks are aimed to specifically offend any of you. i do that by design so each may make it it what they will. everything is face value and no deeper. if you want to go deeper, email me...we can talk at length about a myriad of topics one on one without interuptions.
besides, if i were to specifically aim a comment at one person, i'd call them out at high noon for a showdown. last time i did that was with EMM and he more than earned my respect that day, I call him a friend.
to those i personally offended or pissed off, i will apologize once things are passed. swamp thing was one of those and through discussion found we were talking on similar lines from 2 schools of education, now i consider him a valuable resource and a friend.
many a friendship has been formed trial by fire and solidified at the end. many are ripped asunder the same way. we must each choose the time and place of our battles. sometimes our emotions get the better of us and we each let loose about something. it's our place to police our own thoughts before placing them down for all to read. sometimes we forget that the way we address some subjects may not be the best. and that is the fault of the individual, not necissarily (i hope i spelled that right) for being under educated on the subject, but for not employing more tact in their delivery.
but to each his/her own. we each learn in our own time.
i will apologize for two things though. first, as you can see, brevity is not my strong suit. second...eventually i will learn to use capital letters when typing.
good night all0 -

And there is certainly something wrong about this. Likely because the appeal of argument on one side does not suit the other, and this because of wholly differing criteria of truth and reason given in each behalf. Upon what does the believer claim that God exists? And in all cases the evidence is imponderable. And upon what does the non-believer claim that God does not exist? And in all cases the evidence given is empirical. And therein lies the problem: The non-believer asks "How is a moonbeam anything more than a prism?"; the believer asks "How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?". So the intractability of dispute between believers and non-believers does not obtain for lack of answers; it obtains for lack of agreement on the right questions.0 -

Intellect that neither side wishes to acknowledge or embrace.0 -
Well all I can say is some people like the dark more then they do the light. The apostle Paul should of kept his mouth shut according to some of you.I can just see Jesus saying , excuse me but i'm god. i came down here to show you i'm better then you all.You all can't keep the ten commandments but i have. Can you tell me what you want me to do to convince you that i'm god? No , I don't think so. The light of the Lord blinded Paul the apostle. If the light of Jesus has to glance off one of us to blind a person into believing so be it. You all have a nice evening.[:D][:D][:D] 0 -
It's belief, not intellect. Jesus didn't argue the point to the theif on the cross, he said, "but believe in me." Some people only believe what they see with their own eyes (Thomas). I have faith and believe. You can't give that to a non-believer.
Remember, I'm not talking about the ones who don't know or are searching, I'm talking about the ones who have already made up their minds and DO NOT BELIEVE.
For them, it would take an experience like Paul's, and even then I think half of them would still reject it.0 -

I try hard to never make it personal and if I have I will truly say I am sorry, alot of my comments are honestly trying to understand why some people believe the way they do,I have made the comment several times that I do believe there is some sort of higher power that has helped us get to where we are today, now I dont know if that is God,Mother Earth or just some space alien but there is something,,What I question is when someone keeps commenting 'THE BIBLE SAYS" and then will admit the Bible is a book that was written by other men, not God or Jesus but by man,,even if God guided these men they will still add their beliefs and superstitions to the storys,, so to me the Bible says so is just not enough when having a discussion0 -
If folks want to handle poisonous snakes in their religion, they have every right to.
I still hate to see them get bitten.
I'm all for a voluntary moritorium on religion as it's a personal thing. Jokes exempted though.0 -

I sometimes go there because I'm interested to know what people think/believe.
Then sometimes I misbehave. I try not to...usually.0
