Family Issues??
i am looking for opinions here. This is my situation. My parents bought a home from me back in Feb 07 (when they payed me for it), We did not actually did not have the paperwork transfered to their name until Aug, because they lived in another state. Sat, they received the property tax bill and now they want me to pay it. I do not have the money, but I know that they will be pizzed big time if I don't. My father stated that he is NOT going to pay the total amount. Now that I have told you the situation here is my question. Is it me but when you give someone money to purchase someting from the that is when the item is sold or when it is offically transfered. Now during this entire time (7 months) they have been acknowledging that they bought and own the house. Is it me or what???

First off....... Never enter into a business deal with relatives.
That said..... Offer to pay half. If that does not work, then pay the whole thing.0 -
You pay the prorated part up until they took possession, have them pay the prorated portion from that date on. That is normal and fair. 0 -

I would agree it is about that simple.0 -

Agreed. If your folks don't buy that, then you have to decide what it's worth to you NOT to pay. It sounds like legally, you're on the hook for the bill until they legally took possession of the house, but I'm no expert.0
