It looks real enough to me. But a group of people who really want Bill Gates for president is a far cry from Bill Gates agreeing to run for president.

I read somewhere that if Bill Gates was walking down the street and stopped to pick up a thousand dollar bill he'd lose money because his time is so valuable. (Most of us would make money by stopping and picking up the money).

That being said, why would he expose himself to the ridicule of holding the highest office in America? No matter how good a job he did there would be someone yelling that he's a crook and a bum, and a useless President.

I don't think Bill Gates wants that kind of grief in his life![:0][:0]

To put yourself in that job and let the "Mentals" rip off your hide is why it takes Lawyers to handle the job![:0][:0] Everyone knows that "LawyerHide" is the toughest stuff on the planet![:D]

Not only that though, he would have to give up MS, and any other business he owns, i just don't seeing it happening.

He's already given up chairmanship of MS to run the Gates Foundation, which actually is doing some pretty incredible things in the public health sector as a charitable organization. He'll retain the title of 'Chief Software Architect' of MS for life, but in fact, he's not going to be active in MS for much longer.

Edit: this Gates Foundation seems to be his new gig, and he seems pretty committed to it (after seeing several billion dollars of charitable contributions, that's just my gut feeling), which is why I don't think he'll be agreeing to a presidential bid any time soon.

But he's a relatively young man....

he's not really that smart, he got so rich because he was doing the right thing at the right time- he happened to be the guy in charge of developing windows. there's way smarter businessmen out there.

as for how rich he is...

Busch- He once upon a time recorded an SAT score of 1590!!

He was accepted to Harvard law (where he eventually dropped out to pursue his software endevors, and for a few decades he was principally responsible for Microsofts' business strategy and marketing.

Many people will find themselves in the right place at the right time, the ability to cash in on that good fortune to the degree that he has is what makes him the richest man on earth. I'd say the guy is pretty smart.

He might be popular, but he's about as liberal as it comes.

No way in hell would I want Gates as president. Not a friggin' chance.

If it is true, let's hope like hell it's not another "throw away your vote" scenario. We know where that got us last time. Last time we got Bill out of the deal. Let's hope it's not a ploy to get us the other half of Bill in office! [:0][B)]

Too large a cut in pay to be worth his while. Also, less power.[}:)]

I still think it's a non-issue. Gates in all likelihood does not want to be president. He has more power running his foundation, and has less people to answer to running his foundation, and as far as I can tell, totally loves the idea of running his foundation.
