Not bustin' your chops here...just talking.

Have you trained the young lady in proper gun handling ? Not just safety, but the mechanical aspects of that little rifle ? Recoil will not be a factor...unless .22's is all she has ever shot...and your precautions to ensure the butt is snugged into her shoulder..

I cannot think of a better choice for a youngster..both rifle AND caliber...and congratulations on raising a fine youngster to follow your footsteps in gunnery.

    Highball,
I have trained her to be safe and to respect firearms. When I wrote that it was her first rifle, I meant that it was the first gun that is truely HERS. She has fired my guns a lot and has a handle on the basics. This is just a step up from my .223 contender carbine.[:)]

.243 doesn't kick as hard as a .410. Congrats , sounds like she will be bagging a deer.[:)]

Great dad you are... Most guys would never even consider making their daughters prime marrying material!!!!

She is one lucky girl...and you as a dad.

Congrats! My sons always wanted my rifles. The girls wanted the handguns. Youngest daughter took a liking to my 1911A1 at age 10. (Am now busy corrupting my grandkids with 20 guage pumps)

I'm proud, she is in her room now, reading the manual. A good kid! I deploy for the summer, so I will take her shooting a few times before I go and when I get home we can get zeroed-in for her first PA whitetail hunt (12 is the age).
I still have my 1st rifle, a Marlin 30AS, and hold dear the memories. Hope she gets a deer her 1st time, I didn't but had a blast.[:)]

Keep up the good work. My daughter is now 16 and has dibs on my Colt CAR-15. In fact she was bugging me tonight to take her out shooting tomorrow. Gotta love it !
Keep your head down while you are out there and make a safe return.

Great for you and your daughter. Am glad she likes shooting and the .243 will be a good round for Pa. whitetails. Good luck to you when you ship out and thank you. Chief.
