Range report: Dan Wesson CBOB
So this isn't exactly the FIRST time I've shot it, but the 28 rounds I had through it before this weren't enough to give me a feel for the gun.
Dan Wesson Commander Bobtail 1911 clone. And I do like it.
100 rounds, no malfunctions (ball ammo). This is my first semi-auto bigger than a .22 so I have a little work to do in terms of improving my accuracy. By the end of it I was able to keep most shots in a ~7 inch circle at 50 feet (I was shooting at steel knock-down targets).
The gun feels good in the hand (despite the relatively aggressive checkering on the front strap)and the trigger is crisp and light. I like the sights but I'd probably like them more if they were adjustable for elevation. I found that at 50 feet with that ammo I had to aim a little low.
The magazine feels tight for the last two or so inches of insertion, but I think that might be normal...it feels like I'm pushing a spring up (slide lock?). Worst thing I can say about it, about every tenth round it kicks the brass back at my head. Anybody know of an easy fix for this?

I believe these are made by CZ and should be good quality pistols. 0 -

Dan Wesson was acquired by CZ, and my pistol was made after that happened (I guess they're bad businessmen, even if good pistol makers?). But if you look at the CZ catalog or website, the Wesson side of it seems mostly independent of the CZ side of it as far as models, names, and styling of the guns goes.0
