Alcohol and joint pain?

I find that when I drink, every joint I've injured over the years aches. Is this just me or is there something medically behind this?

    CAT, Its called dehydration, all your joints are surrounded or cushioned by fluid ie water, when ya drink alcohol dries you out with your work and long hours you should drink at least 120 oz a day no less, try it for a while and don't drink for two weeks see if you feel different coffee, alcohol and sports drinks[nothing but sugar] are the worst dehydrators there is...do yourself a favor and get on the water..try it you might like it..Loko [:D][;)]

    Believe this or not----for relief--rub WD40 on sore joints. It works.

    If it's joint pain after heavy drinking, you may have gout.

    It's mostly my right ankle and knee. The ankle got shattered 3 years ago in a motorcycle accident and the knee only faired slightly better. I was thinking dehydration but then again, I'm no where near smart.

    Actually Loko is right. Gout is a different type of joint pain that occurs mostly in weight bearing joints like the ankles and big toe though it can happen in wrist and thumbs.

    I'm sure this isn't the place for it, but personally i do think there is a medical purpose for marijuana. Having the ability to prescribe it doesn't mean i would. I really think it would be hard to justify prescribing it. Cocaine, when used as a topical anesthetic is awsome. but too expensive to use. The problem with using recreational drugs for medical use is the human nature to over use and abuse it. Also with medical technology today, there are many many better and safer alternatives available.

    Alcohol may interact with pre-exising arthritis or exacerbate some symptoms associated with some rheumatic diseases. Better talk with your doc.

    I have had both hips replaced and have a bad back because of it. I hate to admit it but, when I drink a few beers when I get home from work, I sleep better. When I don't drink, I just can't get comfortable and there for don't fall to sleep til 2 or 3. I have to leave home at 5:30.
