I've wanted to get hooked up with paintball stuff, but $50 bucks for a gun, gas, bbs, and eye protection was much more inviting than $200 for paintball stuff. Maybe someday as well on the paintball. [;)]

Airsoft is much more milsim than paintball is now.
Paintball players are trying to get away from their milsim roots to get acceptance from the soccer moms, etc. (bunch of Zumbos [:(!])
They have joined the "extreme sports" crowd along with the skater 'tards and that snowboarding a$$hat who used the US flag as a bandanna at teh olympics [:(!]

I suppose I should try airsoft some day since paintball seems more about gay neon-colored guns and inflatable barriers now rather than playing in the woods and trenches where paintball belongs

I think you're holding back on your opinions just a bit.[;)] Please tell us your real opinion of paintballing.[:D] Just joking, I tend to agree with some of what you stated. Airsoft seems more realistic as well, though a long way from actually shooting others. But a blast none the less.

I actually like playing paintball, but I play mainly in the woods and primarily with like-minded friends or random soldiers from Ft. Riley.
I don't like all the "extreme-sports" kiddies who seem to hate woods-paintball (I would say "true paintball") for no other reason that the fact that it is militaristic

My only problem with it is they are marketing towards kids and sending the wrong message.

I work hard to teach my kids not to point even toy guns at people and to treat toy guns like real guns. Doing this carries over to real guns.

By marketing towards the kids that these are safe to shoot at people can cause problems in the real gun world.

But that being said: I too think it would be fun. I do miss playing the war games from the Army, and have thought about getting into paintball or airsoft to relive some of that.

I played plenty of paintball in my highschool/college days.

Had about $2,000 wrapped up in gun/tank/air/ammo/accessories.

Man what a blast that was. Talk about an adrenaline rush.

I do have a couple airsoft pistols. A buddy of mine and I used to don safety glasses and have gunfights in the house until we started to suck up the balls in the vacuum.

I never got airsoft. How do you know when you're hit? What if you have a person that likes to cheat and act like he didn't get hit. How do you prove he did in fact get hit?

I loved to play paintball when I was younger. We'd play out in the woods or this old abandonded army barracks that was crumbling. Never did play on one of those courses you see.

Well, stand anywhere within 60 metres of my M4A1 electric Airsoft - I promise you, eventhough I only use 0.25 gram (3,9grain) BB's.. you'd still feel it and get small bumps/bruises.

I've made "enemies" scream from getting hit at just 30 metres.

    Ok - mine is not standard 85 m/sek (260 feet/sec with 0.2gram) anymore, but is 140 m/sec (475 feet/sec with 0.25gram) and extended range and accuracy.

Factory fullauto is 28 bb/sec, after I tuned up the gun - I've ended up with 23-25 bb/sec and a 65% faster gun, but with heavier BB's.

Airsoft is quite fun, but I haven't played it much.
Have invested in good quality guns though and have looked more at the technology than the game itself.

I don't know if it's milsim.. sure, we used some military tactics - and simplified signals, but wouldn't say it's actually "Wannabe soldiers".

We just jumped at it - and began shooting at eachoder.

Trust me, unless someone is an absolute animal he'll admit it, normally with a yelp or "ow". They do sting just a wee bit. My friend got hit in the forehead and it broke his skin from about 40 feet away. Plus we're all honest, something that is lost in most competition these days.

A friend of mine was one talking to me about airsoft. She asked me if I liked to shoot. I told here I did and showed her pics of my guns. She asked me if they're real, and I said they were. Then she asked when me and my friends go out shooting, if we shoot each other with them. I was absolutely dumbfounded. Then she said she'll never shoot a real gun because she'd be afraid she'd shoot somebody. Yeah, I don't talk to her anymore.

Instead of just cutting her off teach her! I've been told the same thing by plenty of my wifes friends, but I assure them I'll teach them right and just to give it a chance. Works everytime. I've never taken someone shooting that didn't like it.

Thats one more possible voice to keep our 2nd amendment rights!

Did you ask her how she keeps from veering off the road and repeatedly striking pedestrians while driving? [:p]
