Congressional working conditions
It turns out a five day work week isn't really five days. Representative Steny H. Hoyer (D - MD) evidently took a lot of heat for saying the House of Representatives would work a five day week under Democrat leadership. Now he says what he meant by five days was three or three and a half days.
All the great wonders to be accomplished in the first one hundred hours of the new Congress under Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D - CA) is still on schedule. Now she says what she meant by the first one hundred hours was the first one hundred hours after the Martin Luther King, jr. Holiday.
I'd be willing to double their pay if they would work one hour per week. It should take them about that long to muster a quorum and adjourn for the week.

She was referring to the first 100 hours that Congress is actually in session. They aren't in session 8 hours/day. It could actually take a 4 - 5 weeks before they hit the 100 hour mark. 0 -
These Congressmen and Senators could hardly find the time to actually spend much time in Washington, what with all the junkets, "fact finding missions", campaigning for themselves and their cronies, being guests of honor at a myriad of functions, appearing on talk shows & TV shows, helping out (photo ops) in disaster areas for a few hours, and on, and on, ad nauseum. These folks live like royalty, and the few that come from common roots loose touch with those roots quickly. Take a look at how many times they're absent from a vote, it's a joke. They're real busy, that's for sure. 0 -
