If it is a dwelling where people or animals sleep, I would raise hell, if it is a 9-5 shop, where everybody is awake, (or supposed to be) you will know when that puppy lights up and will have time to get out, then you can tell then you told them so.
Until then, don't wet mop around that outlet, and ask the maintenance guy if he could at least tape it up to keep dirt and dust out.

But in the work place 100% safety for yourself and others takes priority!
This outlet is unsafe in any enviorment!, and should be fixed before any operations are performed useing it!
Well you need to look at the pic again. No bare wires, no open circuits. How is it dangerous? Nothing really more than what a extension cord is. Please look again. Don

If you look in the red circle this looks like a bare metal electrical conection to me!
That's not bare metal GRD. That paticular kind of wire has two layers of insulation on it. The main one on the outside, and a layer on the individual wires inside.
That is too flat to be wire! That is the conector that the wire goes into!
That is either a stove or dryer plug, I really doubt anyone will be sticking their fingers in it, keep in mind this is on the floor, at a place of business not a daycare.

It looks like a 220 volt 30 amp dryer recepticle. At least put a good grade electric tape over damaged area (temporary)
Last year while I was out of town, a water valve going to the water heater failed and pumped water over our clothes dryer recepticle. It literally burned the prongs and housing before breaker kicked. We were lucky! Here's a pic of what was left.0 -
Yes, and yes. There is obvious deteriation problems, exposed wiring and connections, and the plug is not all of the way in making a gap that could allow a short.

The cover needs replaced. From what I see, we have a 220 volt male plug plugged into a 220 volt recepticle. The cover for the recepticle is broken. It does need replaced. 0
