Best music download site?
Just wanting some opinions on what the best place to download (legal) music is.

Itunes, but other than that, legal DL sites usually suck. 0 -
Napster's a legal site now. 0 -
Try www.Pandora.com You pick a band or song and it builds a radio station around it. You can download the songs or listen to it on your computer. I don't know how much they charge for downloads. I'm still using cassettes. 0 -
I wouldn't use Napster.
I had lots of problems just trying to put the music I PAID for on cd or my other home computers.
After countless emails to and from their customer service, I stopped using them and went back to Limewire. Limewire has always worked good for me.
Itunes is a good "legal" program but it's a serious pain if you dont have an Ipod.0 -
I looked at Itunes....seemed to be a hassle. I don't have an Ipod, nor am I planning on getting one....
I just want to download a few songs that will work with Windows Media Player0 -
itunes is pretty easy to use. It is very easy to get carried away downloading songs.
AC/DC won't let their music out for download though.0 -

I use Itunes its simple burn songs to CD then you can rip songs to windows media player i also have an RCA ipod type player that i upload songs to it from windows media player... 0 -
Itunes is great if you have an ipod, as does my son. My daughter has a Creative Labs MP3 player, and we use Napster to download for it. No problems at all with it. And I can run to the local Circuit City and buy gift cards for her so they don't get my credit card number. 0 -

I've never downloaded a song, and I've got a MASSIVE collection.
Visit your local used CD stores. Easier if you live in a college town, but they are all over. Or Pawn shops. Buy what you like, rip the whole cd.0 -
Kazaa Gold. $24.00 for 2 years and download all you want. I've found every song on Kazaa that I've searched for. Some I could never find anywhere else. 0 -
I had about 4k files from winmx and imesh before the last
puter crash. All gotten with dialup, so you know this took quite
some time. Tried limewire about a year ago, only got 5 or 6 files
and every steenkn one of em was infected.0 -
Dont' forget that using the "free" services you are breaking the copyright laws... and the RIAA is worse than the ATF boys and the Brady Bunch combined! 0 -

I have to say, one of the great things about I liked about being on a university network was the fact that the network and the university protected its users from the RIAA. It was the greatest thing. RIAA sends emails to the computer network people, I need information for such and such IP address. "Well sorry RIAA, but we don't give out that information." As long as you stayed under your 1GB up/1GB down for a 24 hour period, you were never bothered. This was on a 100MB service, so you could download a lot in 24 hour time period. luckily enough, the college has a place where you can watch your bandwidth. The college still does this to protect its students.0 -

I've been looking at Yahoo Music and Napster. The wife wants an MP3 player, so we want to legally down load music.
Yahoo Music is $6 per month, but if you want to download to a portable device it jumps to just under $12 per month. If you want to burn a song, it is $0.79/song.
Napster is $14.95 to be able to download to a portable device and $0.79/song. I don't know what the price is to just be able to download to a PC.0 -
dont pay for music downloads, just use Limewire, its free. 0 -

Went back to check the prices on Yahoo Music.
For unlimited downloads to just your PC, it is $71.88 for a 2 year subscription, which equals $2.99/month.
For unlimited downloads to a portable device, it is $143.66 for a 2 year subscription, which equals $5.99 per month.
Still $0.79 per song if you want to burn them.0
