Dropped of my CCW application!
Finally!
I took the CCW test nearly 2 months ago and swore I would get it turned in last year (2006) ... got down to the Sheriff's last Friday (12/29) at 3pm. The sheriff has 3 officers that are qualified to do the finger-printing ... 2 were on vacation and the other one left at 2 ... damnb-it
That's what I get for putting it off until the last minute.
Anyway, the system is a new fan-dangled computer scanner and as we were waiting for it to print my card I asked the Sarge if he was the same person I needed to come see when I applied for a SBR permit ...
He said "Yep ... and if you want, I'll print you a second card so you won't have to make another trip down."
Since I have an extra passport photo and an extra fingerprint card I'll get my SBR application sent in for my PSP10 too!
So far this year is starting off pretty good

Good move!
They don't use the ink anymore for fingerprints in my county. They just use a type of cream on your fingers and take a computer picture and you got it. Makes a better print than the old roll the fingers in the ink routine.0 -
Ok good for you I am glad yo are gettingyour CCW but can you tell me what a SBR permit is? Maybe I am just dense but I haven't heard that one before. 0 -

Yep ... SBR = Short Barreled Rifle
I'd always "heard" that you can't do anything class III in Kansas ... But it seem I always heard it from people that didn't really know; that's just what they had heard. In our area there is so much "wrong" information on this subject that it's just incredible!
Back in October I set up at a local gun-show and right next to me 2 guys from the other side of the state had SBR'ed AR's and UZI's to attract attention(not for sale) along with some stuff they did have for sale. Anyway I got to talking with them and they gave me the procedure of how to get them approved ... this is another thing I've been procrastinating about but it seems the time has come to just decide which to do first ...
The PSP10:
(the easiest and cheapest since all I have to do is install the stock which I already have)
The more traditional MP5 Clone
(get rid of the fake suppressor and have the barrel cut down and install the proper barrel tip)
Or just replace the barrel on the PS-90
(and make it look right!)0 -
So does that SBS let you have full auto, or just less than 16" barrel? Full auto is class 3 right is SBS the same? Thanks Kimber! 0 -
Just the short barrel ... and then only a rifle.
...full auto and suppressors are prohibited in Kansas.
SBS = Short Barreled Shotgun which isn't permitted either ... go figure!0 -
