thanks savage170 - she has a Springfield XD 9mm 4", does not like the bulk. Same for the sub compact. I don't want to go to a .380 etc for obvious reasons. Cant find a 9mm or 40 much smaller than the XD SubCompact - we/she are probably hoping against hope. Thanks again, bh 0 -

Try the Beretta 9MM or .40 Model 9000S, I have the 9MM, I carry it as a back up Duty gun. It has a 12+1 RD Mag and isnt much bigger than the .380. 0 -
I bought a 9000s for my wife off of GB. When it got here, it was much bigger than we expected. Sold it locally within a week. 0 -

The Firestar pistols, also known as models M-43, M40 and M-45, were designed and are still being manufactured by the Spanish company Star Bonifacio Echeverria SA. These pistols were announced early in 1990s and are sold worldwide for civilian market.
All Firestars are compact, steel-framed semi-automatic pistols. Firestar pistols are recoil operated, with Browning cam locking and short barrel recoil. Barrel muzzle is externally cone-shaped to achieve the best fit into the slide for improved accuracy. 9mm Firestar M-43 is a hammer fired, single action pistol with frame mounted, ambidextrous safety lever. .40sw M-40 and .45acp M-45, unlike their 9mm brother, are double action pistols with similar frame mounted ambidextrous safety that allows for "cocked and locked" carry (hammer is cocked and safey is applied). Also, extended 8 rounds capacity magazines available for 9mm M-43 guns.
Firestar pistols are claimed to be ones of the smallest guns in their respective calibers, but, obviously not the lightest ones. The solid steel construction makes these guns extremely sturdy and reliable, and additional weight greatly improves recoil control and makes the shooting quite comfortable, despite the powerful ammunition and small size of the guns.0 -

My wife carries a S&W 3913 Lady Smith in 9mm. It is a single stack with an 8 round mag. Fits her hand well. I have a buddy that just bought a Kahr PM9 single stack 9mm that I shot last week it is a pretty nice gun and is very compact. The trigger will take some getting used to if you are trying for accuracy at longer distances but it will be a great carry gun. A single stack magazine might fit your wife better. 0 -

...Colt LW Combat Commander in 9mm or 45..or newer LW Commander in 38 Super or 45...can be carried 100% safely cocked and locked...un-like a lot of other semi's...[^] [;)]

To determine the "best" gun for her we need some info.
Is she left or right handed?
Is she left or right eye dominate?
Is she tall or short?
Thin, not thin?
Do you have nude photos?
Small, medium or large hands?
Can she handle recoil?
Does she target practice regularly?
Do you know how to post photos?
Can she easily rack the slide?
Will you post some photos?
Give her whatever gun you prefer and be done with it.
