Ah, the wisdom of our elders. (a joke, but true)
This was forwarded to me from our friends in New York:
It's midday on Saturday in front of Fordham University Law School, on the upper West Side of Manhattan. We spot a very elderly gentleman nearby who is holding the leash on a German Shepherd. The man is
wobbling, trying to make it to the curb and is in clear danger of falling down.
We run over, soon followed by two young men who get to the gentleman right before he hits the pavement. I grab the leash on the dog (doing what I do best in these circumstances). The elderly man is disoriented and weak. 911 is called. EMTs arrive, but the gentleman is now insisting he feels better, that his legs were just weak. He certainly sounds more coherent and his color is better. But the EMTs technically have to take him to the hospital once 911 is called. They can release him only if doctor OKs, but they have to check his vitals and make sure he is coherent.
After they check his vitals (which are fine) they ask him some questions. He is 96 years old, lives on his own with his dog around the corner in a high rise. The following conversation then occurs:
EMT: OK, I need to ask you some questions. What year is it?
Gentleman: Twenty-oh-seven.
EMT: Who is the president of the United States?
Gentleman: That son of a be-och!
EMT: I'll mark that as correct.
They let him go since clearly he was coherent. The EMT told me he gets a lot of variations on that same answer.

Where is the punch line ? I thought this was supposed to be funny. Oh, I get it. The joke is on the person that wastes his time reading this story. 0 -

Yes they do. It takes a while for them to ripen up. Just wait and see. If we ever live that long we'll be a sight to behold ourselves.0 -
George is Hillary's son ????????????????????????????????[:0] 0 -

I know this was a joke, albeit an unfunny one, but EMT's do not HAVE to take any patient to the ER just because 911 is called, they make the determination on the scene and if the illness or injury warrant it then they inform the patient (if they are conscious and coherent) about the need to go to the ER and get informed consent, if the patient is an adult and in full control of their faculties they can refuse treatment and the EMT's can not take them. there are laws and rules about that too but that is a long story. 0 -

FWIW, at least in ma, this is false. i can accept a refusal from a concious, alert and orientated person after proper eval. if i had to take every "patient" to the hospital, they would be mighty busy. sometimes, poeple call 911 for other people and sometimes that call is against the patients will.0 -
That was funny.[:D][:D][:D] 0 -
I have to ask those questions ten times a day. Yes, it is funny, as long as you have an imagination.

Same joke in Blade Trinity (even though the plot sucked, Jessica Biel was hot)
He's captured and being evaluated by a psychiatrist(while under a sedative).
The psychiatrist asks him several questions (simple ones like what is your name), blade doesn't respond to them until he is asked who the president is.... his reply: that ash hole.0
