AR lower question.
Just assembled my AR15 lower (Armalite/Eagle Arms) from a parts kit; easier than it looks like, that's for sure...the instructions at AR15.com make it easier than the model airplanes I built as a kid...
However, when I go to mate it to my Colt (or for that matter, my Bushmaster) upper, I have to put the rear (takedown) pin in first, then the front (pivot) pin; and I have to (not so) gently tap the pivot pin in with a rubber mallet (and use a hammer & punch to back it out). If I insert the pivot pin in first, the two receivers will not mate up at all; it'll stop about 1/4" short. I tried it with my Bushmaster upper, and the same thing happens.
Also, when I DO get it together, there's a .022" gap (according to my feeler guage) at the rear of the receivers (right beneath the charging handle and running down to the base of the upper receiver). Again, when either receiver is put onto my Bushmaster lower, this gap ain't there.
So--is this just what to expect when building your own? Did I get an ever-so-slightly out of spec receiver, and, if so, is this a case of caveat emptor, or will Eagle/Armalite do something about it?
I'll try and get a digital camera to post some shots; any advice y'all have would be appreciated.

No accu-wedge in the Eagle lower; I DO use one in my bushy lower, but then it just takes a little bit of oomph to hold them together when I push the pin in.

The only part not Mil- Spec on an Armalite is the pins, they are slightly different in size than Mil-Spec parts. This could be your problem. Good Luck! 0 -
Hmmm...I have no idea who the parts kit was by. A friend who bought a parts kit from the same dealer said they were Rock River, but there was nothing on the bag signifying RR...
I could see where an out of spec pin would be a beach to drive in...but would it prevent the two halves from mating up?0
