I have two 1086s I have had for years. I never knew they were that rare. I like them also. I like S&W DAO guns. Also have a Witness 10mm, great gun.

He hasn't answered any of my emails. Don't know what happened to him. I think he got a divorce, but my memory isn't as clear as it used to be.

I have a S&W 610 revolver in 10mm that uses moon clips. I really enjoy shooting it. My next purchase hopefully will be a Kimber 10mm. I am a big S&W revolver fan but not a huge S&W semi auto pistol fan. They shoot fine but I can't get past the magazine disconnect. I also like the looks of the Witness Hunter. It has a 6" barrel. Anyone have any experience with the Hunter model?

    PA:
Got a 1006 that I think a lot of. Always works when I go to use it. Had a 1076 too but traded it away, wish I hadn't done that.

Getting ready to reload some 10's tonight. 155 and 165gr Golden Sabre, not sure of the powder I'll be using yet, got to eat some of the wife prk chops first and then consult with the Sierra reloading manual.

Anybody got any loads that seem to do real well? Cases are cleaned, resized and primes with Winchester Large pistol primers. Got Blue Dot, 3N37, H110, W296 on hand.

1006 5" barrel with slide mounted safety/decocker. Discontinued
1066 4.25" barrel with slide mounted safety/decocker. Discontinued
1026 5" barrel with frame mounted decocker (ala' Sig). Discontinued
1076 4.25" barrel with frame mounted decocker (ala' Sig). Addopted by F.B.I. Discontinued
1046 5" barrel with DAO trigger. Very rare with only 151 made. Discontinued
1086 4.25" barrel with DAO trigger. Discontinued
    610 6-shot N-frame revolver. Available in 3", 5", 6" and 6.5" barrel lengths. Discontinued
Additional Notes: The S&W 10xx series pistols are undoubtedly some of the best-built 10mm firearms ever made. They are very robust and are quite reliable. Unfortunately these guns are no longer produced and are only available on the used-gun market at this time.

I like 10's. Had a 1006, but sold a few years back when in a pinch.[:(] Thinking of gettin a Witness. Which is recommended for an all around gun...huntin'/carry?
AJ, I like AA#9 for reloading in the 10. Also use it in my .41 Mag target rounds.

I've got a 1076 with the Kentucky State Police emblem laser engraved on the slide. I bought this one from a retired trooper about six months ago. I used to have another 1076, but sold it and regretted it ever since. Now, I'm just glad that I got this one. I still want a 1066 and 1086, though. Oh yeah....I've got a Glock 20 & 29 as well, but love the Smith 10's.

just got a set of the curved grips to change out the flat ones that came w the UNFIRED IN THE BOX 1076 I have.

Not a police trade - in , local purchase back in the early 90's.

Doesn 't hogue make a slip on for better control rubber sleeve that has finger ridges in the front of the grip for this pistol ?

I've got a Delta Eite stainless that I carried as a cop. From experiance, it tops a 22 mag w/ hollow points, comes out on top everytime- no answers to questions were given by perp.

My favorite gun is my S&W 610. That gun is the most accurate revolver I have shot. When I first got it I was hard trying to find moon clips for it,I always got the same answer "Smith don't make a 10mm revolver". I would just say.. They don't, I just bought one. The problem was they came out with the 610 between catalogs during the Gun A Week program back in the early 90's. Then after a few years ammo was getting hard to find,so I would buy it whenever I found it. Now I see these 610's on GB for 4&5 times what I paid for it . Makes me like it even more.

Here's my early 610. I don't understand why S&W dropped the 10mm's, there seems to be a lot of interest in them.

Hogue makes a rubber slip on grip sleeve that certainly may assist in improving your grip. I have a 1076 with one on it. Changes the contour and is hand filling. Pistol sits better in my hand. I have medium sized hands and the regular stright grip on the 10mm pistols is not comfortable me. The 1076 will shoot but I like the Delta Gold Cup better. Seemslike a lot of 10mm are showing up here lately, especially the older 610s. That is one nice revolver.

Another fan of the 10mm crowd reporting. I have two Colt delta elites, stainless and bright stainless. Love them both. Accurate and totally reliable. Thinking of getting a Witness 10 down the road. If it were up to me it would be the standard round for the US military. Can you imagine the troops carrying those? Envy of the world.

I had a 1006; I was not a big fan of it. It shot about 4" low, no matter what ammo you fed it...got rid of it, and got a 10mm Witness last year, couldn't be happier with it. And now I'm toying with the idea of a Glock 29...

I did indeed--it had Novaks, IIRC.
