New AR 15
I did it I brought a new AR. I did the reseach asked alot of question shot alot of other peoples AR's and came to the conclusion I wanted a Wilson. Then found out what one cost and changed my mind. Price the real ban factor. I was looking for a Colt base on what I've hear. I have one already but I wanted another one. So I took my out and shot it a bunch and realized it had a spring vibration after you shot it. I was told this was normal and to get a coated spring if I wanted to fix it. I seen a really nice S&W and like the way the it was machined and the fix was very good. I decided on that one. I brought it and have already shot over 150 rounds threw it and I love it. The vibration after the shot isn't there with the Smith. The gun fits my hand well, it has a Hogue grip. My next thing I have plan for it is to take it completely apart and see how it works and if there is anyway I can increase it's performance, I can't leave anything stock. I was told this would be a good home defense weapon, but I was thinking the bullet was too much for a house. What do you guys think. Either way I plan to shot alot of empty beer cans at my granpa's land with it.

if you want to keep it for defese, load it with varmit bullet 40-50 grain, or the "no-riccochet" rounds that turn into dust when they hit a wall
Awesome and have fun!0 -
Congrats, CG. Tsavo, wonder what the "no-riccochet" bullet do when
hitting live target..?0 -
A light coat of grease smeared on the outside of your recoil spring will quieten things down for you.
Several types of ammo actually make the .223/5.56 preferable to even handguns for indoor use. Hornady TAP is widely used by SWAT types for their entry teams.

I like to dry my buffer spring out so I can hear it.
Nothing like the smell of burnt powder and the sounds of a buffer spring on a crisp, cold and quiet winter morning[8D]0 -
+1 Hornady Tap 0 -

It's the one next to the Colt which is on the bottom. Does anyone else own a Smith AR. I like to hear you think about them. I got my for 900 plus tax and he threw in the red dot.0 -
You are the first person I've heard of to get one.
I'd be interested in knowing how it holds up in the coming year.
So keep us updated regularly.0 -
CGR-WWW.ammoman.com has the frangible 50 Gr. for sale. The smallest order I see is for 500 rounds. I'll be at Keislers this week and I can check and see if they sell 'em. If they do I'll let you know. It's not to far from ya. 0 -
Sweeeeeeet ! [:D] 0 -
Use the Ar as a plinker and get a decent shotgun for 100 bucks for home defence. Preferably a pump so the invader can hear a round being chambered. Use a 6-8 shot load followed by a buck shot. that way the first shot the guy might leave and if it comes down to it who cares about the house its your life. Plus if you shoot an invader there is a possibility of your high dollar ar being evidence for a while. 0 -
I can certainly see why you needed wanted another.[;)] 0 -
CGR - perhaps you should take Zumbo shooting, instead of the Nug.... 0 -

Yep. Because they're labeled as Tactical they'll just cost a bit more. [;)]0 -
+2 on the TAP ammo! Uses a Hornady A-max bullet deadly on varmints as well. Forgot to add it also has a high BC. 0 -
CGR nice photos of the guns hehehe all hell that sure is a pretty girl in the pic. [^] 0 -
The last time I picked up TAP ammo, I picked it up at a gun show...but, if you go in to any decently-stocked gunstore, any 40-50 grain ballistic-tip ammo will work just fine--Hornady V-Max, Nosler Ballistic Tip, Winchester Silver-Tip varmint, et. al...they're all designed to fragment to Hades and breakfast when they hit anything.
Enjoy your SW15; I've got a Colt M4gery and a Bushmaster XM15E2; they're just too darn fun to shoot. I think I need another before they go and ban 'em again...0
