You know, I'm kinda with you..but I see it from those that slam Glocks, USP's, XD's, or any other polymer-framed pistol as "tactical tupperware", or, even "squirt guns". I tend to see these folks as Luddites...the polymer frame is here to stay; hate it all you want, it's a fact. I guarantee when the 1911 first came out, there were PLENTY of folks that swore up and down that there was no way to improve over the Colt SAA...and that the Army was insane for ever getting away from it (hmmm...sounds like 1911 or .308 fans today, eh?).

NO, let me repeat NO pistol (or any firearm, for that matter) is the end-all, be-all weapon for everyone...choice is a beautiful thing. Hey--I think the most perfect pistol is a 9mm H&K P7M8; but I'd never tell my friends that they should forsake all other pistols for it; heck, I don't even do that...unless I own 19 P7's (I wish!!!!).

You are a troll, and I am the only one that can comment on a subject(any subject), and glocks are not worthy.

They are quick to defend their beloved Glocks. that is for sure.

I have owned 3 Glocks and all 3 where JUNK there is a reason they get a bad rap from time to time and the truth hurts. but if the shoe fits wear it.

I guess We the non-Glock fans don't care what others think about our choice of beloved handguns.

    I prefer SIG's

Hey I like them all, so no problem for me...I love my Glocks, but I prefer my 1911's...Then again, my HK's are really nice....some days I just like to shoot my S&W's.....They can all live together in the safe without any problems....[;)]

I happen to like Glocks, I also happen to like XDs, I am a huge CZ fan. I never had any problems with any of those pistols. On another hand, I just can't stand 1911. It uses a cartrige that I do not like. It has low mag capacity, it has excessive recoil, and has lower rate of fire. It's accuracy can't hope to match 357 Sig... or CZ.
It is up to you. You like the gun - have fun with it. If you don't, don't buy it.
I had over 5000 rounds out of my Glock 31. I have not had a single FTF or FTE

    Well, my .02 here....

I have owned a lot of guns over the years...including Glocks.

My 2nd centerfire semi-auto pistol was a Glock 21. .45ACP, got it before the AWB so it came with 13rd mags, and a grip like a 2X4.

It was a very reliable pistol, ate my piss poor reloads that any other .45 would jam on, fairly accurate, but it would throw a flyer every now and then that I knew wasn't me, even with good ammo.

Then I bought a Springfield Armory .45ACP. That was the beginning of the end for the Glock. I really preferred the 1911A1.

Later, I bought a Glock 19 as a carry piece. Again, earlier gun, grip like a 2x4. Shot a SIG 228. I traded the Glock for a SIG 1st chance I got.

I held on to the Glock 21 for many years, finally traded it for a Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag. I'm a S&W and Ruger DA revolver guy anyway.
They are the bulk of my collection.

Moral of the story, I own a bunch of Walthers, H&K's, and still have the SIG 228, but nary a Glock.[:0]

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU GLOCK HATERS!

You should all be pistol whipped until you have Teflon burns.

You should be put in hot water hot enough to melt my plastic gun-and I bet it would still shoot better than all your guns put together. It could even be fired under water if needed.

Hmmm-did I say that out loud?

    Just kidding......[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

I will admit I am not a Glock fan because I think there are better choices but I will say that Glocks point and shoot very well and are also a smooth reliable operating pistol.
I cant say they got a whole lot from the good looks wagon as it passed by.

my Glock ws very reliable, sold it to get $$$ for a motorcycle though. Ergonomics sucked but it shot well. Now have an XD and wouldn't trade it...it's my CC gun. Also have 2 1911's and love them too. All my toys sleep in the same room and get along just fine.[:D]

Glock-haters are just overly jealous underachievers who fully realize that they flat out wasted their hard-earned money on overpriced prissy pieces of non-Glock metal junk that looked real nice in the display case but simply didn't perform anywhere near as well as a Glock does. Buyer's remorse. [;)][;)][:D][:D]

    All hail the mighty Glock! {all sarcasm, folks}

Having lots of viable choices is what it's all about IMO. Imagine a world where everyone was forced to own a 1911? A snubbie? A Glock? And nothing else? BTW, I DO like Glocks.[:)]

glock fanatics are no more fanatical than 1911 fanatics. or wheel gun fanatics, or sig, or hk. every group has its die hard members, some intermediates and some that are just along for the ride.

i dont jump on somebody who bashes a glock because they dont shooti it well, or it doesnt fit their hand well or they dislike their lack of external manual safety. but i'll be the first to fire up and fight the guy that doesnt like a glock becuse its plastic. or its ugly or they "blow up" or any other pointless cop out. these are the arguments of the weak minded who cant tell you a single real reason they dont like the gun but dont want to be the guy that likes em. you dont like a gun becasue it doent vibe for you, that fine. you bash my favorite guns because you are a member of the blind sheeple worshiping at the temple of jmb, its on like donkey kong.

i have to agree, and i don't think the issue is with glock lovers but with glock haters, it is like hitting a guy, then arresting him for assault, i can say this because i was once a glock hater, and i now feel ashamed because all my hatred towards glocks was due to pure ignorance, once i gave the right model a chance, i now have a total respect for glocks, i have a model 34 with 18,000 rounds through it last summer, NOT 1 malfunction, and most of those 18,000 rounds where fired fast and accurate, all the way to making master in i.d.p.a.

    Hobbyguy Quote:
"Welcome to the forum. It's funny that you would bring this subject up, as it has likely been discussed (to death) more than any other firearms on the market. You will find that there are many die hard fans of the Glock pistols. However, you will find an equal number of those that simply oppose plastic, or rather polymer handguns. You will also find that there are more opinions on this subject than there are Glocks in production (just kidding of course). I've fallen into a certain anti-Glock category by voicing my opinion and personal experience with them. I've owned two Glocks, but no longer have either. I currently own approximately twenty five modern handguns from various manufactures and in various calibers, both foreign made and those made here in the United States. I have served in the military and was a member of an elite SWAT team in Southern California for many years. I've had experience with both civilian and duty firearms in several categories including selective fire. As I mentioned above, opinions about a particular weapon is common place here on GunBroker's forums and sometimes you will find that some will defend their opinion to the point of an argument. Please keep in mind that there is no perfect weapon, or everyone would have the same ones. It was pointed out to me last night that comparing, let's say a Glock in .45 ACP vs. a Colt Government in .45 ACP is an impractical comparison. The only similarity the two share is that they are both semi-automatics firing .45 ACP. The heavier of the two (being the Colt) will have notably less recoil than the lighter weight Glock. It's simply a matter of physics in combination with the material used in said handgun. Some prefer a lighter handgun for their particular application, while others will prefer a heavier handgun for their application. One is only better than the other, but only in one's own opinion. My suggestion would be to make that determination based on your own testing. If you don't wish to purchase both, it's likely that you can locate a firing range that will "rent" both handguns to you. Please consider that a similar principal applies to a man selecting a woman. I wouldn't expect that you and I have identical taste in women, so why should we necessarily share identical taste in handguns (or cars, boats, motorcycles, where we live, etc..). I hope this explanation makes sense and my point comes across as intended. You will find many here that will attempt to "demand" that you agree with them, as their opinion is gospel (in their own eyes). Hopefully, you will be able to reach your own conclusions without having to sift through too much BS. Again, welcome to the forums."

glock is a good weapon. I think people have a hard on for glock is for one it has the name and they arent cheap. Its kind of like when something new comes out, in the instance of a glock. They were one of the first to come out with the "Plastic guns." Being one of the first people to come out with this, people were in awe, and still are in awe.

Actually cartod, I do. You, Mr Gunz and some "wanna be" LEO from a thread yesterday prompted this. Brandon (Bombsmacker89D) is looking for recommendations for an appropriate sidearm to carry on his next tour of duty. Of course, "Get a Glock" was posted and I replied "I'm certain he wants a better sidearm than that! HK or Sig would be my preference." If I am so wrong with condemning a Glock for Brandon's application, why doesn't our military issue Glocks? It seems that I am not the only one with this opinion and I have no influence over our military's decisions for appropriate sidearms. I can only imagine that Glock firearms did not meet the necessary standards. Our military has already proven that Rugers weren't appropriate and although many noncoms and officers still carry the .45ACP 1911 (and Kimbers), it was also removed from standard issue years ago and replaced by the 9mm Beretta 92F. I've carried and relied on the 1911 and 92F during my military service years. I've also carried the 92F, the model 17 and 26 Glock as a LEO in Los Angeles. When I got the opportunity to carry an HK, everything changed for the better. When I think of military and law enforcement carry, I don't look to "sport shooters" for appropriate recommendations. I look to those that actually know what it's like in the field. In this particular case, I'm confident that Brandon is experienced and would want to receive realistic and appropriate recommendations. FWIW, HobbyGuy, a lot of folks get hung up on what they perceive to be the common man's simplistic virtues. For all of the big-arsed SUV's, Hummers, and luxury pickups made to date, America is still moving very well on the back of the humble Ford 150. You or I can argue that one till we're blue in the face and only sound foolish in the process. And, BTW, I don't own one (F150) as I spent the extra $$$$ and bought a Toyota p/u.

Glocks are similar in that they are an excellent, out-of-the-box, low-maintenance, mass-produced, reliable and accurate handgun for the masses. Easy to own, keep, shoot and enjoy. Certainly, if person can afford to spend more, I encourage him or her to go for it and spend their money as they please.

I have an expensive Kahr PM9 with all the extras that, IMO, can't carry the Glock 26's jockstrap if you know what I mean. So, money and fave reviews from a handful of gunners with factory-supplied freebies to shoot are no guarantee that a gun actually performs like it should after-the-sale.

I dare say that if we load up a Glock, a Kimber that costs over twice as much, an HK that costs a few hundred more, a Sig that also costs much more, etc. , etc. they will no doubt all go bang when we pull the triggers. "Bang!" when you need it is the primary operative IMO. A second, third, fourth or ten thousandth "bang!" when you need it is NOT necessarily guaranteed by a gun's nameplate, looks or price.

Rather than have another conversation piece that others will oogle at and covet, like my diminutive Kahr, I'd rather have a gun that, if I were ever in a true self-defense situation with my life on the line, had the enviable track record of a Glock. Same as with a Ford 150.

Even though you can spend more and buy what is perceived as "better", you just cannot logically argue away their (Glock, Ford) reliability, affordability, durability and respective successes IMO. "For the masses" is another key operative IMO. In our collective pursuit to preserve the 2nd Amendment, the more affordable and reliable handguns there are (no SNS or R-of-F), they more likely it is that Americans will buy one to defend their homes and themselves.

A Glock for everyone is probably not in good order for everyone, especially if they have the means to spend more and buy upwards. And a person should only buy what he or she feels most comfortable - and accurate - with.

If the $600 hammer and its companion $600 toilet seat taught us anything over the years, it's that government doesn't always make the intelligent or most practical choices.

How many government palms do you think got greased over the years en route to where we are today? I sometimes wonder how many of the government's decisions for hard goods suppliers were the result of two 50-yard line seats at a Super Bowl.

    Just my 2 cents.

Wow--that's interesting. My first handgun was a HK UPS45f; and, with it's purchase, I became a vehement anti-Glocker for a long, long time...until I ended up buying my first Glock. Why?--because it FELT good in my hand, I loved the trigger (USP triggers are, to this day, one of my biggest pet peeves--unless you have the match option, they ain't good), and...well, that G36 just kicked bootay over the USP45c sitting next to it--and was $200 less. As of today, I own 4 Glocks, and 2 USP's--and want at least 2 more Glocks (29 & 34).

After all that, I've pretty much given up on the USP series (and, from what I've found, the P2000 series as well). Glock has a better mousetrap. Now, I'm beginning to look at Sigs; but, I doubt I'll ever buy another H&K handgun, unless it's another P7, a P9, or a HK4 (and the HK4 just because I think they're cool). Maybe a VP70Z, just because...but not for a superior defensive friearm.
