What did you guys do this beautiful day?
Weather was just perfect here in the southeast today, so I got up early this morning and drove from the mountains of s/w NC to Chickamauga Ga where I met up with my hunting buddy from south Ga. We went to Pigeon Mtn sporting clays course and shot over 300 shells each. Was only my second time to shoot since December. Broke a few, missed a few, but all in all had a great time with a close friend.

y'know, I griped all day at work about "this is the wrong day to be working..." it's a good day for riding a motorcycle, fishing, boating, hiking, anything but work.
I guess I was right.0 -
Checked gunbroker. Spent six and a half hours ripping grass blades into shreds with tweezers, sticking them into little tin capsules that I had weighed, using tweezers to crush the little tin capsules into little spheres and re-weighing them. The total amount of grass that I processed today weighs less than the amount of acetaminophen in a regular strength Tylenol. Science is very glamorous.
Then picked up GF and stopped at the grocery for beer and chicken. Came home, ate dinner and watched a DVD: The Prestige. It's a dark one, and one of the better movies I've seen lately.0 -
Chasing brookies in the am,stopped at the club for a few Buds then home to clean out gutters and other honey dos. Today is going to push the 80s, it's about time.[:D] 0 -
Took the pup to the bark park, watched him play with about 30 other dogs for close to two hours. Took the wife on a drive somewhere we'd never been before (and still am not sure where exactly we went) in the Jeep and saw some great scenery. Came home, watched a very scary movie and went to bed. 0 -
I'm going to work, make some easy money. 0 -
Regular work day for me ... 8-6
Then came home and the little woman had the grill fired up and was fixing hamburgers, hot dogs and hot beer brats, with corn-on-the-cob and cold A&W Cream Soda to wash it down with!
Played with Abby and heard all about her day of shopping and "gardening" ... watched the sun go down then went inside and watched a little tube.
Days like these are far too few.0 -

Well, it's actually tomorrow, but tomorrow which is now today..,
I took my wife to lunch at Grave's Mountain Lodge in Syria, Virginia, just off the Shenandoah National Park property. It was about one and a half hours of beautiful drive from Quantico to the Restaurant.
After lunch we drove the few miles to the park and hiked the White Oak Canyon trail a bit. It follows a mountain stream, past several waterfalls...very scenic. A nice day and I'm pooped, fat, dumb and happy.[:D]0 -

Cleaned out a stinking muck filled pond at my wife's grandma's house.

We've had three days in a row with GREAT weather ... I went over to the shooting range to help with a SASS Cowboy Shoot yesterday ... and more pertainent to your question ... I went over to the club again to help with lunch and get in on some shooting at a Cowboy Clinic.
It was totally cool, but way out of my price range. There was a bullet fired from the loading table (into the berm beside the 50 yard range) ... sure makes it clear that all the safety stuff is not just playing games! Whew!
And after things were put away ... a friend helped me work on my new-to-me lefty Hawken ... going to get ready for some BP Shoots with it before I get my Hopkins & Allen Underhammer built. I have a rendez-vous to go shooting with them next Sunday afternoon!0 -
I got up early, grabbed a donut & coffee from SA, went to a gunshow, met some of my friends there; picked up a new AR lower (Eagle Arms), a parts kit, and a buttstock...so I've got a nice little project tomorrow.
After the gunshow, went out to a bar/restaurant, sat out on their deck and had a bloody & benedict...when it started to rain, went inside and sampled a few new beers with the owner (also a buddy).
Hung out with my girlfreind for a bit after that, drove back from the cities in a light rain...
All in all, a pretty good day.0
