It's just a name (short for "web log") for an editorial page that allows others to provide feedback & discussion but leans toward the opinions or views of the author 0 -
Morning chuckie...
BR here...NOT CLASSIC...didnt realize he was logged in till after I posted it...havent had my first coffee yet....sorry...*LOL
A blog is an online diary....you can have pics, links to other websites etc, and others can leave comments....
And from the online dictionary, see below..
Blog
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A blog is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.
Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.
The term "blog" is derived from "Web log." "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.0 -

Most BLOGs MIGHT be interesting to the writer's friends. That's about it. They're primarily for women if you ask me. They keep in touch with their friends that way. For others, I think reality tv has went to their heads, in that people actually believe that other people want to know every little intimate detail that happens in their life on a daily basis. i.e., I got a haircut today! My dog threw up today! It's raining here! etc..etc... a waste of webspace. 0 -
It's a way for people desperate for attention with nothing to say to make their voices heard in a manner that deludes them into thinking that people actually give a flying f#@$. 0 -

PC800,
The posts here are the electronic version of a conversation for the most part.
Blogs, by and large, are meant to be camouflage for the weak-minded as they do their best to convince the world that their opinions are somehow worth listening to or that that they are more clever than they actually are.
Blogs about the dramatic structure of Garfield or seeing a sneak preview of a movie are not meant to cause discussion, they are meant to elicit unwarranted praise from the ignorant.0 -
Gosh - that definition seems to fit GB ??

Couldn't have said it better myself. Not to say there aren't some mindless posts here from time to time, but most are at least thought provoking, debates. Discussing large discrepancies in luggage prices between US and Chinese companies is a little different than sharing what kind of cereal I had today and why I like it.0 -
A blog is a personal web bulletin board. Kind of like <censored> and this forum. 0 -
Just give another 2-5 yrs and it will be a thing of history. All we can hope for is that it will be part of history that is forgotten. 0 -

And many of yours (and others) posts here are trying to do just that, to convince the rest of the people on this forum that your opinions are worth listening to. No real difference except for the format.0 -
Thanks a bunch, Why would any one want one????[:0] 0 -
The only real "good" reason for having one would be to keep family informed if you had a lot of people all over to keep in touch with.
The whole.....look what I thought up all by myself....blog reminds me too much of My Space. I am not a big fan of that mess.0 -
Well, there are really two types of blogs: one of these is a personal blog, which, in a journal-like fashion, details someone's personal life. These are trash and are universally uninteresting.
The other type of blog is the topical blog - ones that are trying to discuss a certain topic or idea. For instance, GM has a corporate blog which the CEO himself actually writes. Its kinda interesting because he actually responds to complaints about quality and the declining state of the American automobile industry.0
