Bought a Scope Leveler HMMM

I checked out some of my regular shooters this evening ( not that I have any rifles) and found 2 about half a bubble out. I use a collimater sp? and I have a laser boresighter I used to set these scopes up. I chose to trust the bubble level and made adjustments on my Win. Model 70 in .270 and my Ruger Target Grey Model 77 in .223. They have been decently accurate but maybe now I can get a few more in the bull.
Gotta shoot both this weekend pending ice storms.

What do you guys trust the most?

  I believe that the leveler is superior to the collimator...for setting the scope on horizontal/verticle plane.
  Inserting a spud in the barrel allows for rotation...none of the collimators I have seen have levels incorporated in them...but then, the ones I have are pretty old.
  
  The collimator allows one to check for proper adjustment movements..and to optically center the scope, tho....
  Rarely has a rifle shot to point of aim, using the collimator...but will get you on target, normally.

  I guess what brought this on was the screwy patterns I was making while shooting targets and making adjustments as needed.
  At 200 yards, make adjustment up and then need a left adjustment.
  Kinda led me to the conclusion I needed to do something different.

  600 yards will tell a real story about 'not level'.
  
  One can check at 100 by drawing a verticle line (use a level)..shoot a group then change the elev. to the 5 or 600 yard comeups..shooting another group should fall roughly on the line.

  This is what I bought and so far have been very pleased with it. Levels to the gun so it don't matter if your gun is level or not while leveling the crosshairs. I looked and looked to try to find the most simple leveler and the one that would work on the most guns and this is what I ended up with.

  I've considered getting a leveler for mounting a scope. But I have a question about a method of checking without the gadget: If I zero the rifle, then add enough windage to move impact the the right edge of the target, fire a group, then move the windage to move the impact to the left side of the target and fire another group.
  
  If using the same sight picture, it seems to me that if the scope is level and the rifle not canted, that the groups should be level with the ground. And if the scope is canted relative to the rifle, or the rifle canted relative to the ground, that one group would be higher than the other. Is this so, or not?

  Your are correct. That is what I was experiencing.
  Most of my rifles are scoped. I just got to thinking and trying out the new leveler tool and found a few that were off.
  Just barely, but I shoot at the 300, 500 yard ranges and this weekend at the 600 yard range. The unlevel scope will be WAY off at those ranges for sure.
