Would You Go?

Seems like stadiums are places utilized to store the unfortunate refugee during disasters. Twice recently in this country.

If you were in a Katrina/San Diego situation and had to leave your home, would you go to the stadium?

I think it would be the last place I would go. Opinions?

    I'd go back to Wisconsin if I weren't in Wisconsin to begin with. But then again, I'm trying to figure out why I'd want to leave Wisconsin in the first place.

    Evidently the reasons are not obvious to a whole bunch of folks in Louisiana and San Diego.

    I wouldn't, but perhaps for some folks it would be good as a central gathering point where you could get immediate support and information, for a day, two at the most.

    Most people nowadays live their lives unprepared for anything that could happen and rely on someone else help and support in case of a disaster (natural or economical or anything bad), therefore they simply go on the path of least resistance, or whatever someone else tells the to do.

    It's bad enough going to Texas Stadium when everyone is in a good mood. I can't imagine being there with a bunch of tired, pissed people.

    Sounds like a good place to become a target...

    No way would I go to any stadium, convention center or shelter. I
    worked through Katrina and saw what went on there. Most the media
    never reported. I would take my chances in my home (rural) or in
    the marsh or woods.

    If I was mandated to evacuate I would fly to another city, like Honalulu or something.

    Nope, and we havent in the past. We have so much family in the area that we would just stay with them.

    Matty...hard to say without being faced with that situation, but I like to think I could avoid exposing the family to that kind of situation...

    I wonder how long the three of us could live in the RV in a friend's driveway?

    Seems like it'd be a boiling point for confrontation...I'd pack up my vehicle, maybe rent a trailer and take whatever I could, and just get outta dodge until everything was clear...stay at a motel or something...

    It's kinda hard to call the shots when a million people are looking for a place to stay, and the fires are coming your way. Emergencies should always be handled on a neighborhood or commuity level -- I would much rather bunk at my church or high school gym, than at the Super Dome with 50,000 other folks.

    There's no place like home. I've got food to last six months, and ammo to last two years. I know and trust my neighbors. To be uprooted and running, and unable to stay home, is the worst possible scenario.

    Not a chance. It's rural enough where I live, and I have friends enough with acreage, I'd head for the woods. I don't care for crowds when people are at their best, and I can't abide feeling like a charity case. No refugee camp for me, thanks.

    I wouldn't go. To many family members/friends scattered around. Someone would take us in (for a little while). If not, I can live in the woods.[:D]
