Old diner trick: mix a large spoonful of cooked mashed potatoes in with the mashed turnips just before serving. It will firm up the turnips, won't taste the potatoes, and you won't get that watered down texture that so often happens with mashed turnips by themselves. I'm getting hungry!! Joe 0 -
never tried french frying them , but i,ll have to now , thanks BR , i love them, but i grew up eating that kinda things, and spinach and rhubarb, brocoli,brussel sprouts,plantain, doc ,artichokes[;)] 0 -
Plantains I can do without. I like my bananas soft and mushed up with peanut butter. But everything else you mentioned is just good ol' country cooking. Cook up a big ol mess of turnips, mustard greens and kale, some white beans and big old skillet of corn bread and I will be in my own little version of heaven. Plays havoc with me the next day though. [;)] 0 -
