Scope question?
I found some BSA Scopes on close out sale,Ive never owned one or knew anyone who has.I was thinking of buying a pair of 3 x 9 x 40 scopes for a upgrade on 2 old Tasco 4X Pronghorns I have on .22 Rifles.Are these scopes junk or are they descent scopes?I consider the Tasco Pronghorns junk if that will help you give me your opinion.These arent target Rifles ones a Henry Lever action .22 and the other a Remington Viper,I know most people dont like the Remington Viper but I must have got lucky no problems with mine.

I need a new scope for my .17HMR the Tasco's reticles began to turn. Is the Simmons 8 point scopes descent scopes? 0 -
I am looking for a scope that will be great at long distance shots. I really don't have a ton of cash to put into one, but I would like to have a pretty good scope. Any suggestions? 0 -
How far is long distance and how much is a ton? [:)][:)] Leupold....Nikon....Burris....are expensive but not expensive if you consider the alternative. Buying cheaper and getting a cheap scope.........

There is a ten power 3200 Bushnell out there that is reputed to be a real dandy..recommanded by Barrett.
Think about staying away from varable scopes in that price range..most are fragile things, with lots of stuff to break.0 -

I gotta say that about any scope over $100 will do most anything you want to do at 300 yards expcept all out benchrest competition. 0 -

I have a Bushnell Trophy 4-12x40 AO on my 223 Remington 700 that I use for varmint hunting. It costs right around $200 and is clearer than the Leupold Vari X II. You would need to step up to the Vari X III series to get clearer...but then you are in the $400-500 range.
Never had a problem with it and my gunsmith has the same scope on two of his varmint rifles (and he can afford swarovski if he wanted).
What are you going to be hunting with this? I have found that for large game (deer, elk, etc) that any power about "9" is really not needed (at least for me).0 -

Nikon Buckmasters Series Riflescopes

6-18SF x 40 = $360.00
It surprised me at how well the Nikon BDC reticle worked.
I have used many different makes of scopes. And have found that I like Nikon's better than any other for the money.
I have always used Leupold bases and rings. You know what they say. When you find a good thing stick with it.0 -

+1 on this one. Still have the scope but not the PTR-91. I use it on my DPMS .308.
